I think most of us would be happy if she just announced that you could buy the products they've already released!

Article (and thread) title should of course be 2021 rather than 2020.

I know many would want to erase this year from memory and start over, but sadly we can't.

oooh maybe threadripper 5xxx might be announced, maybe the lack of stock on 'everything' is a sign and I should be getting a 32c/64t one of those instead (I've been back and forwards on it)....

    hmmm

Oh who am I kidding, if they can't make enough of the consumer models the 'prosumer' models will be even harder to get hold of...

Looks like CPUs are being delivered in their thousands this month.

Amazon UK right now have the 5600X in stock, but at £300 they can keep them. That's almost double the £155 I last paid for a 3600. Fingers crossed with availability will come sane prices.

Edit: Amazon sold out while I was typing, so don't bother checking. Get on the Stock Informer Discord channel if you want any chance.

Re: AMD CEO keynote scheduled for CES 2020 on 12th January

As far as i recall 300 are the MSRP for the 5600 X ?
And that 3600 did you buy that at launch for 155 ??

Granted the 3600 as i recall was not a 300 bucks processor at launch, but the 5600X are also another beast and the price hike over older similar parts with same core count dont get much flack in reviews.

If you want results sort of immediate, ban banks in dealing in bitcoins, CUZ if those are not sell-able for real cash, no one are interested.
People are mining bitcoin to get real money, not to have a thick BC wallet so they can buy,,,,,,, i dont know i can not recall seeing any Danish shop accepting bitcoin,,,, aside for little shops i assume.

Actually the Ryzen 5 5600X naming is also bait and switch. If you look at the CPU itself,ie,its TDP and use of a Wraith Stealth cooler,it looks more like a Ryzen 5 3600 successor than a Ryzen 5 3600X successor($200 launch price),so you could argue the RRP has gone up by 50% and now we know why AMD made the XT line. The non-X is now slowly being split into the non-X and X. The true Ryzen 5 3600X successor will be a 95W TDP Ryzen 5 5600XT.

I think AMD is quietly holding back until Rocketlake S is out,and the problem is that it only has 8C. So I think AMD feels confident Intel can't drive the higher core counts to down the stack, and Intel is hardly known to be very aggressive either in pricing.

Also apparently over on OcUK,there is a rumour the Ryzen 5 5600 non-X might drop HT,which I hope does not happen.

Comet list a price of £280 for the 5600X (and are selling for that much on ebay even if their main website says sold out), so I take it that is the actual RRP. Seems about right for a $300 part.

As for the 3600, yes that wasn't at launch but my 3700X pretty much was and I paid £10 less than RRP not £20 more. That makes my 3700X cheaper at launch than many sites are listing the 5600X.

The difference being the market wasn't sucked dry by demand when I bought my 3700X. There were a ton of chips sloshing around the market when I got my last 3600.
