Not suprising when you are still knocking out oldish tech. Avoiding law suits ? mmmm , maybe learnt lessons from closed shop marketing and other underhand practises.
"Doubled capacity" = improve yields from 20% to 40% lol...? That'll help prop the share price up for a little longer.

Considering the doubling of 14nm capacity is seemingly mainly through yield improvements (considering how established that node is, this should happen regardless). The doubling of 10nm capacity is redundant as a statement, does anyone know what the wafer capacities are for D1X / Fab 28, let alone Fab 42? Considering Fab 42 was meant to be producing 7nm alongside Oregon, where will that leave capacity for future process nodes? They'll need to invest a lot more money in their other fabs if they're not going to have another delay shifting between 10nm to 7nm.
Guess this is what happens when you think your competition isn't going to catch up.
Mobileye is building 7nm eyeq5 chips at tsm since 2018 and reportedly is using tsm N6 for Xe-HPG.
Habana is building their Gaudi training chips at tsm, and has announced moving to 7mm.
Intel announced that their Xe-HPG chip is being built at an external foundry. I have seen reports that Intel secured 180k N6 wafer capacity at TSM for 1H 2021, so perhaps Xe-HPG is in that batch.
Intel has persevered, addressing their 10nm fab issues, and developed 10SF and 10ESF 10nm processes which raised their clock rates dramatically on Tiger Lake.
thing is that other companies will be on 5nm and 3nm,and then it is back to zero again for Intel, maybe they should tell their board that some major investments is needed to be able to competete or be on pair with the competetion at least, to keep both at each others neck... it does not bother me if it say Intel or AMD on my CPU or other parts... but would pick who wins the battle... unless pretty much neck on neck.. then would roll the dice and select the HEDT company that offer the best solution and product, to the cheapest price.... without any other sacrefices... eg.. power house or running to hot to easy.
