Glad there taking their time but at the same time the wait is agonizing because I want to buy a GPU to play at 3440x1440 with ray tracing enabled and NVIDIA is the best choice at the moment. Really want AMD to give them some competition and if super resolution works as intended the 6700 XT would be an ideal choice in the coming months for me

AMD has always been taking their time with things, it is no wonder why they get to be in the consoles as for one thing that is.

This is going to be VERY hard for AMD while Nvidia has dedicated ML transistors. Both software and hardware stack of Nvidia are miles ahead.

I disagree on miles ahead on hardware, AMD are utilizing the same manufacture processes ASO, but yes NV are leading on design still, but if they had moved lately like AMD have, the new NV cards should be about 2 X as strong,,,,,,, and thats not the case.
So if NV dont get their finger out the 2 will be neck and neck soon if AMD can keep up the steam.

I will also agree that NV are leading on drivers / software, AMD still have plenty of room to get better here.

I will get more power upgrading from my 5700 XT to a 6800XT VS a NV user say updating from a 2080 to a 3080. ( at least thats my feeling, dont really keep that much tabs on things today )
But yes i will then only be updating from no RT to some RT where the NV cards have gone from some RT to good RT

It's not processes, it's Nvidia have dedicated AI hardware built into their cards and AMD don't. It's that hardware you need to make something like DLSS run efficiently. They also don't have the experience with AI that Nvidia do, or the AI super computers you need to generate the algorithms to run on the cards.

Re: AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution won't be rushed out

Yeah i know it take a bit more, at least if you do it NVIDIA's way, which are probably the only way, for sure brute forcing 4K with all the bells and whistles still seem a bit off in the horizon, and trying that with 8K are just a disaster.
Whatever it takes AMD will have to do it one way or the other, or they will again be not relevant, even if you dont even consider some of the new stuff.
They have calculating power, or can rent calculating power to make those algorithms i assume, but i do not know if they have the in house talent to do that, or would have to outsource that too, but i assume you could compute that on CPU's just as well as on Nvidia cards, maybe not as fast but still not so slow that we have to wait for years to get the output.

Anyway i am good for at least 1 year to come, and as a pensioner i am proficient in playing the waiting game.

Not really into these things, will they have to create algorithms for each game, or is it be a "one to rule them all" solution.
Clearly current AMD RT cores do not play ball, but neither did Nividias first RT cores, but they better be a lot better next time for AMD.
First DLSS was also a mess as the article say, so lets hope AMD can bypass that step, or there will just be more catching up to do.
A lot of things need to be better actually, but i also think there is a chance of that, at least i will give them the benefit of the doubt.
