Shouldn't the French have one of these robots outfitted to hold a white flag?
"bar use of the robots from being used "to harm or intimidate any person or animal, as a weapon, or to enable any weapon."
So when they were used in the War of the Worlds TV series that was against the T&C's?
Does it have rearview mirrors? Just to see the battlefield, you know?
Good job it isn't in the human form - it would be behind the lines smoking a fag and talking to the women....
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
Cue the pathetic 'French surrender' remarks

It looks like a baguette.
That last bit is as bad as Trump saying the Russian's didn't do anything bad because Putin said so. There are things you just can't take on trust, and your potential enemies not misusing tech is one of them surely? FFS who runs these companies? Do they have cheese for brains?
Also that little tracked vehicle they show going through the door - fairly sure my dad had an old toy that looked just like that, about the same size too. Sure it relied on wires to a handset but not exactly Tomorrow's World is it? And the barracuda thing looks fairly useless. Shoot the knees and rocket the shield. It smacks of a military without much combat experience. So the French would fit. From first hand accounts of afghanistan the French sat in the compound polishing their shiny APCs and wouldn't take them out on patrols while other nations were out actually doing something (and getting their legs blown off in the process).

This looked a lot like an open day. Bring yer robot and we'll throw it into some old tactics (breaching) and see what happens with some new ones. Certainly the shield one would be excellent for public order where the threat is coming from one direction and hemmed in by the streets. Given that in almost every modern war, the military has to switch nearly seemlessly between warfighting, peace enforcement and peace keeping, I can see that particular trinket being useful when you have tear gas, etc which can be lobbed over the top.
I was mixed on the breaching one as it was slow and stupid, but the old flash and go tactic is well known and several special forces were severely wounded / killed on one entry as the insurgents knew what was coming, ducked and covered and then opened fire as they entered. New tactics are needed and maybe robots will help, maybe they won't. I can imagine perhaps a tiny drone you throw in and it takes a hover. If it has a 360 degree IR camera, it might work better for such things. It may only last a secon but it would enable rooms to be listed as clear or not and likely isolate the number of people inside and whether they are in a hostile posture. That or send in hypnodisc from robot wars and shred.... everything.
This just seemed like they were playing around, getting input and seeing where there's room for development, rather than showing off anything of use.

Ah, the Skynet roadmap seems to be on schedule.
Good job, but where Boston Dynamics’ machines will be used in future.
NYPD apparently using them in the wild:
