This rumour about Nvidia stockpiling cards makes no sense. If you think your competitor is about to saturate demand with a lot of stock then you would want to push as many products out as possible before their launch to dent that demand. You're in an advantageous position while your competitor's hands are tied before their launch and you'd take a sale now rather than a price war in a few weeks. It's like we can't look anywhere without there being some conspiracy these days.

AMD is starting to be Nvidia with its ridiculous pricing on mid range cards. We miss the Polaris days.

That was exactly my thought. Unless they are waiting to see what AMD do for pricing, and then dump with a price drop slightly under that.

But even then, while usually dumping now and then changing the price after AMD release their card would annoy people I suspect that many would just be happy to get their hands on any half decently priced card. So would seeing a price drop just after you purchased a 3060 or ti make people mad in these times? I suspect not as much as usual if at all.

The only positive I can think is that if AMD and Nvidia are both flooding the market at the same time, then that might stop any scalpers from trying it on.

Is it possible that Nvidia and AMD have come to an agreement to release simultaneously as the scalping and short supply is hurting their reputations? Or is it more likely that Nvidia is thinking less about profiting and more about hurting AMD?

Re: AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT launch MSRP tipped to be US$349

Do we know how the 6600 XT is meant to compare to existing GPUs? I've got an Nvidia GTX 1070 that's struggling at 5120x1440.

Looks like the 5600 XT was ~10-25% faster than the 1070 so what's the generational hop?

    Only a 128-bit bus.
TPU have an entry for the W6600 and W6600M, so this should be similar.

6600 is rumoured to be around 5700 speed. W6600 is only 100W. So maybe 5700 performance for 125W. Efficient but $300 is no progress.

6600XT might be around 3060 speed. Presumably pushed a bit harder to maybe 160W? Not as efficient.

128-bit bus + Infinity Cache is efficient but cache hits probably aren't that great above 1080P.

Looks great for a SFF system like my Velka 5 based one. However, the price is not so great.

The RX6700XT has 25% more shaders than an RX6600XT,and 43% more than the RX6600.

That would place the RX6600XT at around RX5700XT/RTX2070 Super level performance,or around 25% to 30% faster than an RX5600XT if we assume perfect scaling. So around 10% faster than an RTX3060,but with less VRAM and worse RT performance and it costs more. However, the RTX3060 is poor value compare to the RTX3060TI,which does not cost much more than either due to the existence of the FE and appears to be around 15% faster than the predicted performance of the RX6600XT.

The RX6600 looks closer to RX5700 performance, which means its closer to RTX3060 performance. It at least looks a bit cheaper, but you have less VRAM and worse RT performance.

The RX6600 looks the better of the two,if AMD can actually hold it closer to the $300 RRP,which would mean closer to £260~£270 in the UK. This is because the lack of an FE means frequently an FE RTX3060TI is cheaper than an AIB RTX3060. However, compared to 2019 when there were reference RX5700 and AIB RX5600XT GPUs for under £300,its not an ideal scenario still.

In a normal market a 128 bit GPU like the RX6600XT would be under £300 RRP.

6600XT has slightly less than half the spec of the 6800XT, yet is rumoured to actually cost more than half the MSRP ($349 t0 $649). Is that right?

AMD is going to make much more on these GPUs when compared to Navi 10. The PCB and cooling requirements are less,so those are going to be much cheaper, and even if GDDR6 costs more than GDDR5,AMD needs only half the number of memory chips.

Yes, the margin column is a bit poor.
Basically as if the die was the only cost.
Hard to get accurate figures so I just ignored everything else.
The relative costs are accurate enough I guess although the defect rate would play a lot with that.
Plus not every defect die is unsellable.
Anyway, I want the Xbox S series as an APU!

If the 5700 XT vs 5700 XT is sort of reference, we'd be looking at a 30% increase so would reckon it would be something along the same lines for the 6600 XT generation leap. So I'm assuming would be an even better upgrade for you!

I'm looking at the 3060 or 6600 XT for my next upgrade, my R9 380 is fairly aged and has served me very well.
