But... why??

More 4k 120/144hz monitors at 32 inch format is the sweet spot really probably for the next decade for most people. A new base standard like 1080p 60hz was for the last decade. Uber high refresh rates are pretty pointless above 240hz even for pro gamers I think.
I suspect most people would say 4k 120/144hz monitors at 32 inch is high end, at least for gaming on, i mean you're looking at north of £1k (even at RRP) to drive decent frame rates on that resolution in graphically intensive game.
Plus, going on Steam HW survey, the majority of people are still on 1080p so i can't see many people jumping from that straight up to 4k in the next decade, IMO 1440p will be what most people will transition to in the next decade.
Yes, fair point on 1440p. The 4k equivalent of this, https://www.lg.com/uk/monitors/lg-32gp850-b will probably be £1k or more when, it emerges and probably stay at that price for a while, with 4k 60hz panels pretty wide spread. 4k 60hz panels will probably keep most next gen console players happy for a while yet.
I'm just waiting for a decently priced 4K 144Hz panel with the right response time / connections / size and without all of the garish gamer add-ons. I'll wait, because I'm not paying over the odds for one.
Now I wonder if AMD and NVIDIA is shooting out SUPER GFX CARDS... from their rear to be able to go that high...
Think ID Software has the best engine for this though.
The Hz goes BRRRRRR
