Re: Microsoft Edge devs reveal Super-Duper Secure Mode

Microsoft is typically rather proud of the speed and responsiveness of Edge
Yep, Google did a good job

Does Super-Duper Secure mode just mean cutting the power to the PC, that's the most secure way..

Sounds like NoScript and maybe HTTPS everywhere or something. But because they're aiming at non technical users, the JS restrictions can't cause problems like NoScript can do, so they can only limit JIT.

It's not a bad approach and covers the biggest problems, but every time they do stuff like this, it just means people will concentrate on a different attack vector as Edge is so unrelentingly mediocr.... I mean popular.

One of the worst browsers EVER! I'd sooner use IE than edge.

I like Edge, I've been using it since it came out, I have other browsers installed just for compatibility reasons but Edge is my default..

All a bit checky really, isn't it?

However, hopefully Safari will follow suit as that thing is IE levels of "special" with what doesn't work properly.

Hmm, Opera as in the one now owned by a Chinese consortium? I'm not going anywhere near that.

The Opera co-founder started Vivaldi instead, which is what I use. It's also Chromium-based and has syncing between desktop (Linux, Mac and Windows) and mobile (Android and iOS) just like the other main browsers - Vivaldi's synced data is encrypted however. It also blocks trackers and ads by default, though you can use uBlock etc if you prefer, as well as other Chrome extensions like most Chromium-based browsers.

...just a question, if your browser is chrome based (like opera) will it be difficult to implement back-doors to USA/Chinese spying?
