Hmmm.
Is that real availability, as in actually buying one, or theoretical availability, in the sense you can buy one if you can find one in stock, probably between the rocking horse poop and diamond-encrusted moonbeams on the shop shelf?Availability is scheduled for the middle of October
First reaction .... how big?
Second reaction .... shame about the butt-ugly colours. But then, non-windowd cases have their advantages.
Third reaction .... at whhat price?
Fourth reaction .... wanna see independent test results before forking outwhat it's likely to cost.
A lesson learned from PeterB about dignity in adversity, so Peter, In Memorium, "Onwards and Upwards".
My PC is heavy enough as it is...
Major Hardware (see YouTube) built one of these based on rumors for a 3060 the other day and it worked impressively well for being cool and quiet.
SLI iirc is only on 3090's now so that's not an issue and if you want quiet AND have the space, it doesn't matter how many slots it takes up really. Cost and availability are probably the biggest issues.
Where has 5 slots come from? It's only 4.3....
I'd say this isn't an argument for it. I think removing the option to use the other slots to do what a PC is meant to do (expand capabilities by adding modular cards and components) is a serious consideration and a huge drawback to this card.
Just because you don't use those PCI-e slots now, doesn't mean you won't want or need to do so in future. Such a large card may also compromise M2 access, cooling and use.
I would be exceptionally wary about buying such a big card and I would be furious if I bought a pre-built which advertised how many PCI-e slots it had on the mobo, looked to add in another card and found that they didn't mention that, whilst the slots are present, they aren't usable.
I'm not saying this card doesn't have its place or is an absolute no-buy. I'm saying casually brushing off the potential ramifications of the size is potentially going to land you in an expensive problem and needs careful consideration.
I do though. I was quite happy to take a drill to my case to remove the hard drive bays so I could fit the length of my stupidly long Vega 56 card, but covering all my expansion slots as well is tricky.
Well, if the card had been L shaped so the 0.3 of the 5th slot it used was the bit furthest away from the blanking plates and left plenty of space for my PCIe to USB card...
Does sound bloody briliant to be honest!
33db on full fan speed.
And to be honest the graphs just show how naff most of the none standard fans are.
I'd always found MSI tend to be the quietest so far but I think this would beat there offerings hands down.
Just that price tho !
Would probably work best with a riser cable / slightly wider case if you needed to use other PCI-e slots. Especially when you factor in GPU sag. Certainly wouldn't want those colours anywhere near me though.
very expensive i bet.... no way am paying them prices...
Hello GPU sag...
If you're happy to DIY a better cooling solution yourself, then the Raijintek Morpheus II with an couple of these strapped to it is going to perform very well:
https://www.scan.co.uk/products/120mm-arctic-p12-pwm-pst-5-blade-static-pressure-1800rpm-563cfm-fluid-dynamic-bearing-black-4-pin
They daisy chain together, hook them up to a fan controller or a 4 pin header on the motherboard, and set the fan curve to adjust in line with CPU usage, with a base line of about 35% speed.
It would probably perform nearly as good as this I'd expect.
