Big BYOC LAN at Butlins in Bognor Regis

It has to be good because of the amount of alliteration... right? You bet!

UK LAN gaming organisers Multiplay have colluded with Butlins to bring a massive 1250 player LAN tournament to Bognor Regis in 2006 - the Butlins Computer Gaming Championship, or BCGC if you're a FoA (fan of acronyms). £99 gets you entry into the festivities for three days, plus accommodation.

Doesn't really interest me much (I prefer small scale personal LAN's) but it's a great idea! (Having one somewhere like Butlins, I mean)

1250 players though... I've been to a 400 player LAN and that was impressive enough, but over a thousand, crickey!

Butlins is great! What a great venue! There's a Halo 2 tournament on Xbox as a sideline to the Pc tournament as well

I would have seriously considered going to this, but apart from the fact that it cost rather alot, they really annoyed me with their stupid:

"If your kids are nuts about computer games then why not give them a Christmas treat that they wont forget in a hurry."

Is it just me that thinks "Well done, you've just pissed off half the target audience for an £100 lan in the middle of nowhere?" Stupid stupid Butlins.

    Postponed!

Butlins, London 20/12/2005, As you are all no doubt aware we have all been working very hard to put this event together, unfortunately though we have been very disappointed with the very low level of sign ups.

At this time the amount of sign ups does not justify running the event and so we have taken the decision to postpone it until later in the year. The proposed date is 30th of June at which time the resort will be fully open and all facilities will be available including all swimming pools, karts, amusements and other attractions and shows.......We will keep you updated.

If you have booked to attend then you do not need to worry as refunds are guaranteed if required, and you will all be contacted by Butlins ticket department shortly.

To show our gratitude to those of you that have taken the time to book you will also be sent a 1 year free Butlins pass for four people worth around £120.

We would like to stress that the event has been postponed, not cancelled.
