    GeForce 6800 GS gets a double-sized framebuffer

    512MiB on a graphics card almost seems common, so Point of View announcing a 6800 GS with that framebuffer size almost passed me by. I caught it while wandering by there today, and with its custom cooler and extra performance possibilities at high res due to the extra memory, depending on price it seems like a decent choice for mid-range.

    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    does anyone have the feintest clue if this card is worth looking at, or is gonna be just like the Radeon 9600 256b, that had slower core AND ram than the normal 128mb Pro version, and was therefore noteably slower, and not really worth looking at?

    digit-life have a review of Gainward's version, plus a 7800GT 512MB version here:

    also, even more interrestingly Gainward are doing a 512MB 7800GS AGP card. However unlike other 7800GS cards it is actually a 7800GT - i.e. it has 20 pipelines, plus it has a nice arctic cooler silencer on it as well
