Doubt we will see it in the UK. Nintendo always release many more colours and versions of their products in japan - I was surprised when the DS lite was released over here..not normal Nintendo behaviour

Its typical however. Weve ordered a standard DS in Pink with Nintendogs for one of our daughters birthday in July. Should have it within the next day or so, we would have preffered the lite for her with it apparently having the higher resolution screen (havn't looked into the DS yet and what it can do etc as I'm PC mainly) as she has a few minor eye problems.

Don't know where on earth you heard that but the resolution and even the physical size of the screen s is identical.

Hence why I said that I havn't looked into the DS and it capabilities yet. Goes to show that some places will say virtually anything to try and sell you something.

It doesn't have a higher resolution or bigger screen, but it is a lot better. It's so much brighter and clearer than the original. Even on its lowest setting it's slightly brighter.
