    Looks like an upscaler to me.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    TBH, this sounds like buying some 3-D glasses to upgrade your video card.

    hmm, no i think it is a genuine resolution changer, however, i'm not sure what games on the ps2 will not have so much power as to absolutely kill the ps2 at a high res

    Its an upscaler in the purest sense.
    It will just take the PS2’s output signal and convert it into a standard HDTV one. The image quality improvements come from eliminating the analogue part of the link (assuming it does this – would be silly if it didn’t).
    The texture resolutions on the disk will not magically be better, they will just be stretched over more pixels, and the PS2 doesn’t have anywhere near enough processing power to provide a stable HDTV output for most games.

    Think of it the same way as playing a Megadrive game on your PC monitor via an emulator. While your screen will be of a much higher resolution, the games textures and assets can only be as good as the original – they just get mapped onto more pixels in the process.

    But it will probably of no better quality than a half decent TVs built in scaler

    I see whatyou say about cutting out the analogue which will be better i suppose, - so HDMI instead of composite?

    Actually, I should have read the press release properly – its using component, so technically it's still an analogue signal, but still, component will do HDTV with no issues at excellent quality.
