Nokia N80 Internet Edition 'connects you to your on-line life'

Nokia says that its N80 Internet Edition GSM phone, due mid-September in bronze or black, allows easy use of some of the web's favourite services while away from a PC.

Main features take in wireless LAN capability (reckoned to have an easy-to-use wizard to simplify internet connectivity), a "robust" browser (with a rather neat-looking zoom called MiniMap), voice-over-internet (VoiP) calls, a 3 Megapixel camera, a built-in music player (of course) and quad-band GSM WCDMA coverage.

So are the differences just software changes, or are there some hardware ones as well?

I think this is pretty much a WYSIWYG update.

Interestingly, though, a Nokia N80 was integral to some of the dems being given on the DLNA's stand (detailed news story coming shortly) and so I mentioned the Internet edition of the N80 to the Nokia guy.

He seemed pretty sure that existing owners of the N80 could upgrade to the same functionality from Nokia's site.

Today, while writing up the DLNA piece, I was reminded of this conversation so visited Nokia's main support page for the N80.

Unfortunately, I was unable to figure out what downloads, if any, might be needed to achieve this feat but if you are an N80 owner, things might be a little more obvious to you than they were to me.

Tbh, i was hoping for hardware changes.
Im getting a new phone soon, but if it wasnt for the poor battery life on the N80's, i'd get one. I was hoping that the 'new' versions would have uprated batteries.

BoomAM, battery life on the N80 can be significantly improved with a few changes to the settings. When I first picked up mine I'd be charging nearly every day.
I can now go a good 3 days of general usage without charging.

I shouldnt have to switch 3g off to get better battery life though.
I was exploring the option of one of those higher rated batteries you can buy, but tbh, i think im gonna settle with a K800.
    Thanks though.

    You're welcome

They're both very good phones, one of my best friends has the K800i. I personally prefer the N80, but you can't really go wrong with either of them.
