Evesham £150 sat-nav plays MP3s and stills; tracks speed cams

Latest gadget from Evesham Technology is an in-car GPS navigator that can report the location of all types of fixed speed camera used in the UK and also play MP3 music and display stills.

Evesham's Nav-Cam 7700 is priced at £149.99, uses the AA Navigator 2007 app and has a 3.5in touch screen. There's a 256MB built in memory to store maps and data - freeing the SD-Card slot for digital media.

    More in this HEXUS.lifestyle.headline.

Corrected - thanks to posting by GoNz0 of Nov 26.

    false advertising..

it says it can detect all speed camera's, thats not true as it has zero detection capability's

it should state it can be pre programmed to display locations of fixed camera's on the database. drive by a mobile cam and it will stay silent, 1st thing you would know is the ticket dropping through the letterbox.

There seems to be a torrent of OEM Sat nav devices coming out from lots of companies, it's going to be one of the hottest xmas gifts this year. The vast majority are samey Windows CE devices running AA Navigator or Destinator - both of which or pretty 'so so' compared to the likes TomTom, Garmin etc.

I would bet my life it has a absolutely pants MP3 player and "that can detect all types of speed camera used in the UK" is simply not true. But virtually all SatNav's can load up 'points of interest' for fixed and potential mobile locations, but thats different from radar detection.

At £150, it's too much money when you can buy a TomTom One V2 for around £10 more.

Er, more like inaccurate reporting by me!

I'll do a little update of the original piece - and double-check the press release, too.

    Thanks!

I've had no hands on but the eagle-eyed among you may have noticed a press release from the AA about its Navigator Vive! posted soon after the Evesham news story.

Well, I spoke to Evesham about that release and was assured that the AA is buying in its Navigator Vive! from Evesham and that others are as well - though Evesham was unwilling to name names.

So, the AA, at least, seems to rate it.

Come on Bob, in the interest of excellence you need to get lots of different sat navs, and spend a day testing them all out lol.

Even better idea, test them out getting to the next Hexus meet scheduled for 3rd of feb in milton keynes

    Multiple problems there:

1/ I don't usually have a car during the working week

2/ I don't have a car at all right now - there's already a shot someone here abouts of the wreckage of the last one but I've included it below cos I can't remember where I posted it.

    RIP

3/ A day - one day! What kind of test would that be?
