Inno3D to target the enthusiast in early 2007

Using a Zalman VF900 is one point of improvement over standard graphics card. But keeping the PCB green and not using a LED fan doesn't make it that impressive, to be honest.

I'm sure it was only a couple of years ago that only the big motherboard makers were doing graphics... ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI etc.

Clearly they are making so much money off us that they all want a slice of it

Perhaps, but a few years prior to that it was back to all comers. Swings and roundabouts. Inno3D have been making cards since I had my first PC.

You forget to mention XFX, EVGA and Sapphire (and maybe more). Those were graphics only manufacturers, shurely both EVGA and Sapphire produce motherboards these days, too.

I think it's because the number hardware enthusiasts is still growing. Those people are looking for hardware with something extra, something innovative. I don't want to say Inno3D's graphics card is innovative, but it sure is an extra to get a VF900-Cu standard. There's only one catch: if the price tag is the same as a combined VF900 cooler with graphics card, why bother buying the Inno3D? It needs to be just a bit pricier than the graphics card itself.

Warranty. I don't know of any graphics card manufacturer who allows you to install a 3rd party cooler and maintain the full warranty - I'm not saying they aren't out there, but I've never seen one yet.

That said, most will happily accept a graphics card with the original heatsink on, probably without checking.

Someone once told me EVGA allows overclocking and installing a 3rd party cooler without any warranty void.
