TomTom HD-based sat-nav carrying two viruses

Sat-nav specialist TomTom today belatedly admitted that some of its range-leading hard-disk-based GO 910 models are carrying virus infections - a situation the company seems to have known about since mid-December or perhaps even earlier but chose to say nothing about until now!

Sounds like they kept it quiet till after xmas to avoid any damage to sales figures. I bet they sold a heck of alot of units aound xmas.

It also makes you wonder why the 'Appropriate actions have been taken to make sure this is prevented from happening again in the future.' werent done as a matter of course. Virus and spyware protection and scanning is a no brainer now and has been for years

I find it amazing this still happens relatively often (some ipods had viruses).

can be removed safely with virus scanning software.
So what went wrong? That sounds to me like an admission that they dont bother checking for viruses are part of their QC.

Now we get months and months of class action lawsuit goodness. I'll bet some lawyer is already making plans for how to spend the money.
