Epic have confirmed that Gears of War will be coming to PC, but you'll have to wait until enough gamers have PCs that can run it.

Don't make me laugh. I don't know why I'm supposed to be impressed with a game that runs in 1280x720. I've been playing games at 1280x1024 for three years now and I am not some rich, hardcore gamer. PCs can deal with it fine even those that don't run 8800s. They're not releasing it for anything else because it's the 360's top title and is making those who already have systems faster than a 360 buy one just to play it. Don't believe the hype, people.

Surprised it wasn't on the PC first considering the Swarm thingies were used in a nVidia SLi GPU tech demo some two years ago...weirdly enough everyone seems to have forgetton making me seem like a stark raving loony :/

Heres hoping they don't surgically remove the co-op from the PC version...

And there was me thinking the 360 can play games at 1920x1080. I must be senile.

Who the hell cares if the majority of PCs can't run it at full settings? Anyone remember ultra settings on Doom 3?

Gears of war doesn't run in 1080p.

Rainbow 6 Vegas uses Unreal Engine 3 and it's fine on the PC, I refer again to my previous statement, Microsoft don't want people to buy Gears of War on anything other than the 360.

Splinter Cell / Vegas ran fine @ 1600 x 1200 on my last-gen based system..

As per usual it's not about hardware it's about marketing: let's face it, GOW was developed on a PC anyway..

BTW can the people who said it'd never come out on the PC now hang their collective heads in shame please?

Didn't we have a thread on this before somewhere previously? Where's the 'can only be played with a gamepad' posts? Seems to upset peoples e-motions this one.

Either way - Vegas runs fine on my less than current gen box. I'd buy it but of course I'll make sure to get a gamepad first.

i stand by my "some games need to be played on the most appropriate platform" comments.

the technical feasibility of running the game on a pc was never in question. the practical gameplay issues of making it the same experience, using the standard controls offered by a pc, were - and still are

R4 is one of the worst ports going right now - nice choice!

Back on topic - I think i'd rather wait and see what they do with it rather than writing it off frankly. I don't care if it's exactly the same as the console - in fact, i'm quite happy if they change it some in the process - i'll judge it on it's own merits when it arrives.

And how much is a 360 controller anyway? Pah and piffle to ya

resident evil 4 is a good example because the forum was swarming with a similar amount of "it would be so much better on a pc" comments, and it's similarly designed ground-up for optimal play on a console.

They should package the game with a 360 controller. They get to make even more money. MS are happy. And people can play the game.

The waiting for market to catch up to x360 spec is a fair-ish point looking at steam surveys (http://www.steampowered.com/status/survey.html), but it says something more about the unwillingness to scale the game (and the additional cost/bug fixing that would involve). Of course, if they didn't say something like that it'd hurt the credibility of the x360.
