I'm a fan of wififofum, just to see who is silly enough to leave broadcasts on and no encryption on there connection active.

A serious usage of it is finding BT openworld, the cloud and other free public access pointsAdobe Reader 2 for pocket pc I have found invaluable for reading pdf files on the move.
You may want to puchase some remote control software so you can control your devices at home all from one device via irDa that is provided its consumer irda and not serial.

There are plently of pretty good free games out there if you want something to waste you time on.
apparently my phone will work very well with novii, they report ranges upto 25 feet![]()

A must have is SPB Pocket Plus. This has always been the first software I install on my Pocket PC devices... Check it out @ www.spbsoftwarehouse.com. Worth every penny
Then, there is the free skype and TCPMP (for playing video). I also add PocketMusic, better than the actual Media Player provided by Microsoft.
Enjoy your new mobile![]()
Thanks everyone,I guess all will me made clear to myself tomorrow but when I download these apps do I just download the *.cab files?
Absolute must have WM5 apps;
*Resco File explorer (You simply have to have this app, its almost pointless having a WM5 without it)
*Opera Web browser (Pocket IE sucks big time. Opera handles java much better and has tabbed browsing)
*WiFiFoFum (Wireless sniffer with cool, but completely pointless, radar screen)
*TCPMP (For video playback. Plays music too, but see bellow for an app thats 10 times better for music)
*Conduits Pocket Player (For MP3, podcasts, internet radio and streaming from a home server over your network)
*InClose (makes programs close, rather than the default minimise - keeps the device up and running fast)
*TomTom 6 (No explanation needed, the best sat nav you can get on a pocket PC)
*MemMaid (Reg cleaner, hidden temp file remover and much more. Brings the device back to life without a hard reset/format).
*iLauncher (Put some nice icons and buttons on the today screen - great for launching stuff while driving. Very customisable)
*PocketRSS (Good RSS reader, today screen support too).
*Voice command +bluetooth hack (much better than using recorded voice tag speed dialling and reads you email to you via bluetooth while driving etc).
Enjoy![]()

You can either download the installer, run it on the PC which then transfers and installs the app on the device (via active sync) or, you can download the .CAB file and manually copy it to the device and run it to install.
The .exe installer essentially just extracts and dumps the .cab on the device anyway, then runs it to install. The cab is handy as i keep a copy of the cab on the devices mem card. If i run out of space/memory i can uninstall the program if it dont use it much, but if i find i need it again, i have the cab ready to install without the need for a PC connection when out and about. Cabs can also be downloaded via wifi/GPRS when out and about to.
However, some (not that i have found any yet) programs wont install completely correctly if not done via the PC. Also, some (again very few) need to be activated via the PC/installer (serial keys etc for payware). The other thing with using a proper installer via active sync is that you can manage the programs installed with active syncs add/remove programs (often avoiding the need to re-enter serial keys all the time etc).
Hope that helps
Get yourself over to http://forum.xda-developers.com/index.php. But beware, it a sticky web full of pocket PC pests. You might be there some time!

Cheers autopilot, thats a fantastic help! I was supposed to receive the phone on friday but ParcelLine misrouted the parcel![]()
just found out its not the qtek 9100 but the HTC TyTn, which looks to be a slightly better phone with a 2.0mp camera and 3G (with support for hdspa)
Wont get to play until about 8pm this evening though![]()
