phone trouble - what to do

Ive had my k750i for just over a year, since the 27/02/06. I bought it online from Phone4u and paid £150 on PAYG on Orange. However like most of this model the joystick is now being a massive pain in the bottom and its making the phone nearly unuseable becuase it doesnt move for minutes on end even when applying a good deal of pressure - rebooting the phone doesnt seem to help either. I have done a search and one post mentions that dust might be a problem? Not sure how i take the thing to bits as its molded and dont want to go snapping anything. I have also read that it may be a firmware problem but i dont know to flash the phone I think i need cables etc which means spending money on something that might not fix the problem. Im really not sure what to do at the minute the years warrenty has expierd by a month and im not sure how i can fix it I cant even check the firmware 'cause the joystick is beinh such a pain. Help!

Certain mobile phone stores offer a flashing service (I think it costs though) so that might be an option.

Have you contacted SonyEricsson support to see what they say?

the K750i came with a USB cable. This can be used to flash the firmware, just download the updater from the SE website.

The K750 isn't too bad to take appart. I did it to mine a while back to completely clear dust out, especially from behind the screen. There are a few clips, but they aren't too complicated, just take some time over it.

Some have said that running the corner of a piece of paper round the sides of the joystick can clear it out. Worth a try right?

SE are notorious for using crap joysticks, especially in the K750i. I had one, my joystick eventually stopped working, as well as half the keys. One of the dudes on my course has been through 4 in the past year and a half.

sony ericsson have better joysticks than you all think. they are EXTREMELY strong and durable. the problem is that dust and dead skin gets in the way of the contacts in the joystick. when this stops it working, ppl push down on their joy's really hard, and they still dont break, magnificant!!!!

anyway, running a peice of paper round WOULD NOT help, neither would the method funkstar used.

i fixed my phones joystick, and i can write a guide (with pictures) to show you all how to do yours??

i never found a good tutorial on the web, so id be happy to make one to help evryones problems, as we know all future phones of SE will suffer!!

alternatively, you could just buy a new joystik from ebay for about £3 inc delivery. 6 small solders required though. (my method is solder free, and therefore, safer)

jus reply back if you want the tut, all make a new thread
