My First Impressions - HP iPAQ RW6815 WM5 "Personal messanger"/phone

I've ordered one of these for "testing" a while ago and have been having a play around with it for a while now.
So far, I have probably only used a fraction of the software on offer on this, but to say I'm hugely impressed is a massive understatement. After playing about with it for a few hours I almost had a geek overdose when I got the voice recognition working.
This may sound like a pointless gimmick, but if you get a car kit, this will be a godsend.
You DONT have to set up any voice tags at all. It has proper voice recognition and you can ask it everything from call someone (if it finds more than one match, it reads out the names to you and asks you to yes or no each one)
Once I get tomtom and install it, I'll report on that aswell and see if I can get tomtom to work with voice commands.
Its pretty heavy but thats mainly due to the large battery that so far seems to last about the same as my HTC P3600 so about a long weekend off one charge.
I haven't tried the built in GPS yet as I have no mapping software for it, but will try that soon.
The " megapixel camera quality wise is what you would expect from a 2 megapixel phone camera and it has a flash, though I cant get it to do anything other than be solidly on or off - it doesn't actually flash though its pretty bright.
Also, it has a plastic flip cover for the screen so its better protected than most WM5 devices I've seen so far.
In the Box, you get a manual and a load of other boring paperwork that you never bother reading, a pouch for it, a USB cable, a charger with adapters for all over the world and some other stuff I cant remember. The battery/sim card cover is pretty easy to remove and the card slot is on the top. It has a plastic protector in there that must be removed if you want to put a card in there.

I'll post some pics when I get the chance as right now I dont have a camera to take the pics with.

I got one of these free with my phone contract.

My impression is that it is a really good all round device.

Going from your review above I would just add a couple of things.

You say "Built In GPS" the GPS is not actually built in you require a bluetooth GPS module for it but they are pretty cheap so no real biggy there.

My only real issue with this unit so far is that the phone side of it seems to lock up from time to time meaning you can't send or receive calls on it until you either go into the wifi manager and turn the phone off and back on again or soft reset the whole unit.

For sat nav I use Via Michelin 4 basically because it came with my previous Ipaq and it works flawlessly for me plus it alerts me whenever I get near a fixed radar camera.

One of my favorite features is the fact that you can use any MP3 as a ringtone so options there are limitless.
