    PDA? Phone? What to get?

I have a quandry, I need something that can run a spreadsheet application but I'd like it fairly cheaply.

Is there anything suitable on the market? Small is better and if it can do both phone and PDA duties even better.

My knowledge on these sort of matters is somewhat limited.

Have a look at the HTC range, they tend to get rebranded by various suppliers (tmobile, O2, etc)

Some are normal phone size, some are PDA sized, some are HUDGE. I purchased a HTC Universal, mainly for internet on the move, but now carry it all the time. Has made work a lot easier as I always have the tools I need, including a scientific calculator.

Although big, its operated (voice control) via a bluetooth headset, can output music to stereo headsets, does satnav, word, excel, etc. Sits on my belt most of the day, with headset in pocket. Probably a bit large for what you want, but the newer models are smaller, some retain qwerty keyboards, and pocket office is suprisingly good. I did have a smartphone prior to this, the built in office stuff was only a reader.

What's your budget on the phone and what's the most you'll want to spend per month?

Budget up to around £150, will pay up to £30 per month but obviously lower is better.

Looks promising, I'll pop into my local O2 store over the next day or so.

Is there anything on just the plain PDA front that could be a contender?

Out of the box, the N95 only has Excel spreadsheet viewing software. The E65 has the full version that allows creating and editing of Excel spreadsheets too.

I'd go for a T-mobile MDA vario if they still do them and get the package with web&walk gives you free internet and the phone has a keyboard and runs windows mobile 5 and they'll throw in GPS system too.
