    T-Mobile Web'n'Walk ...

Im quite tempted to go on this as ATM I have an XDA IIi but its upgrade time and T-Mobile seem to have crazy data contracts compared to everyone else.

A friend of mine who is on WNW (the cheapest one), and he has no problem using MSN and connecting to the internet on his laptop even though they say thats against their fair usage policy. He got his contract when the service first started, I was wondering if I moved now it'd still be fine to use?

Also - Im trying to decide on the best phone replacement, want one with a decent camera but I also want a PDA style phone as I live off e-mail and the calendar on my phone ... would get the Vario II but its so thick :S Any ideas?

THe camera on any of the htc phones is atrocious, ok in sunlight, but indorrs/a little overcast you may as well not bother. Can you live without the camera? if so the w950i is awesome, dont know what its like for syncing to outlook though if thats what you use.

I use IMAP accounts, I'm a mac person so its all on Mail in OSX, and on the server I used to have a W800 and getting that to work with OSX was ... intereresting. WM2003 is enough of a pain although I currently have it working okey!

Has no one tried using the cheapest service on their laptop?

What do you mean the cheapest service ?

If you mean the pay-as-you-go one, I will be trying it in the next two days.

The one I have been using is the cheapest WnW Pro contract - £20pm for 2gb transfers.

I havent tried WnW on the phone connected to the laptop. But I might be getting a N95 with the WnW Max one - 10gb and allows VOIP/MSN etc.

I've recently kitted out a director with a 10GB service and he's pretty much convinced that it's witchcraft . Coverage appears fine, speed is good, and the FUP is leagues better than say the Voda equivalent. I'm thoroughly sold on the built-in 3G cards supplied with Dell's Latitude series - OK, the software's got Voda logos on it, but that doesn't stop it using a T-Mobile SIM and 3G service; the hardware isn't locked.

I've used my phone as a modem for my laptop a couple of times with the basic W'n'W package and I haven't had any threatening letter. As long as you're not taking the piss, I think they'll leave you alone.

Nokia N95? 5 mega-pixel camera and syncs fine with iSync.

Does it offer image compression to reduce data usage as the TM Communication Center software does ?

I use a Dell XPS M1210 with the Dell 5505 Card built in - but with the T-Mobile software instead of the Vodafone one. The image compression is quite helpful as it reduces data usage on image heavy websites and it still looks good with the glossy screen. Unless there are a lot of gradients in an image, its not something you would notice unless you were critically looking at a photo or something.

Read on another forum recently a post made by a T-Mobile employee. It basically said that its all down to "Fair Use Policy" which means they look at you usage and make a judgement based decision.

I think its 1Gb for the £7.50 an you are not supposed to use it for VOIP, Streaming or as a gateway/modem. If T-Mobile detect excessive usage apparently they send you a SMS warning you, if ignored they will cut the speed to 1/5.

After saying all that and scaring people he finished with "however I have never seen a single person receive a warning SMS message... ". I am also aware of someone using the £7.50 package as his main source of internet connection for 3 months and downloaded CD iso's etc...

isnt the w950 really bad for texting? like the keys are too small and u hit 2 at a time. Its jsut what ive read so dont quote me on it, as w950 is one of my options for upgrade next week
