Vodafone about to start charging for Live!

Just received a leaflet from Vodafone to say that access to their Vodafone Live! service will be charged from June 1st onwards, having been completely free for the past few years I've been with them. Users will be charged up to £1 a day for the first 0.5mb, then the next 14.5mb is free, then it's £2 for each edditional mb. This is a laughable pricing structure (basically £1 for 15mb, but you get charged the £1 when you get to 0.5mb...), and to say I'm pissed off is an understatement I'll be making the change when my contract ends in July.

One question I do have, are they allowed to just suddenly changed the pricing structure like that, even though I'm in midst of an 18 month contract?

To be honest - not that fussed - but only because I never used it. The charges are a bit silly though. All I can say is that if the above is true, I want to be able remove the Live! hotkey asssignment from my phone, that they insist on putting there by default!

If the contract stipulates that Live is free and that there is no condition in the contract that they can change that without notifying you or change pricing within your contract term, then yes its breach of contract.

You would have to call them and explain this to them, and prove that you have used the service and if you knew these pricing changes were going to happen at the time of purchase, that at the time of purchase you would not have signed.

If they agree they have to terminate the contract, if they don't then you can if you so wish persue them through small claims court for all associated costs you accumulate.

That is my understanding of the situation anyway, I believe O2 has lots and lots of customers cancel when they changed their 08xx call costs mid-contract term. You did have to prove you used the service enough to have it warrant the cancellation though.
