Advice from people in the know on nokia handsets please.

    Hello,

I'm being offered from my contract at renewall time, a new handset.

I'm not a big fan of phones with all the mod cons etc etc, I use it to make phone calls nothing fancy.

I was a long time user of the nokia 6100 due to its size and battery life, I was forced to upgrade to the 6230i after the 6100 died and is no longer made.

I've been offered the 6300. Now I had a quick look in the shop at this one and it basiclly looks like the updated version of the 6230i.

I've seen the sony 880i, and I'm really taken with its size, however I'm only really interested in sticking with a nokia. the 6300's appears to be the closest thing to the 880i and my current 6230i,

I'd really appriciate hearing from people in the know their opinions on this phone, any potential/known issues, or even a recommendation.

Should I stick with the 6230i, update to the 6300, or even an alternative.

My main drivers is size, weight and battery life.
    It is Inevitable.....

Those are both nice phones, my choice would be the sony out of the 2.

I've had my 6230i since it came out, and I love it. Near indestructible; been through 5 cases, one completely destroyed and it still works as well as the day I bought it and it can pick up a signal in the rear end of nowhere(where I live). So not much would separate me from it.

sorry - I'll re-phrase that as it looks like I've not been clear

I'm looking at a.) should I replace my 6230i b.) the closest slimest/smallest lightest nokia availble to me which appears to be the 6300

I don't want any flips, clams, slides etc etc. Just a solid phone, and it must be nokia.

I was using the 880i as an example of losing features I don't use for size and weight.

the closest appears to be the 6300

I got a 6300 about 6 weeks ago after having a 2 year spate with Sony Ericssons. I have to say I love the nokia. It's very thin in comparison to my old W800i. It has all the features I want from a phone and the battery seems to last days rather than hours.

The only downside with the phone is that I am paranoid about scratching the stainless steel back of the phone or the screen. So much so I got one of those crystal covers for the phone. They work a treat!
