I think it would depend on what for phones you're used to. Personally, after having used SE phones and Nokia S40, the U600 OS is a nightmare. The size is very nice though, and the build quite solid.

I quite like the u600, very slim, the touch sensitive buttons are ALOT better than the e900s effort.

Samsung make good phones on the whole, so I wouldnt worry about build quality or menu layout etc.

The camera, despite being 3.2mp is not as good as the k800i and k810i's 3.2mp camera.

Importantly, its probably the first phone from Samsung that rings and vibrates at the same time!! This wasnt possible at all on their other phones.

Girlfriends sister has it, its a great looking phone and is solid, but thats where the good points end.

Battery life is awful, she charges it twice a day.

Is that down to the battery itself or the fact it's constantly in use all the time?

Ive just taken my Prada phone back to the shop and called o2 to negoiate a £20 a month, 12 month deal with o2 for 500mins and 100txts and a free u600 - bargain Took 4 calls though till I found someone to give me that deal!

I'll post back soon, as my u600 is due to arrive tomorrow or wed

The only reason I took the Prada back was because it was an 18 month £30 contract with the same minutes and texts, so I was basically buying the phone. I must say that I did personally love to Prada phone, although people who saw it tended to love the looks, but hate the touch screen.

Ive just found out that the 1000mah after market batteries for the x820 and d900 will work in the u600. The u600 comes with a 690mah battery as standard, which is less than that d900, but it has a better power management system, apparently, so it lasts as long as the d900 despite having a lower mah battery.

Ive just bought a d900 1000mah battery off ebay, so it should last a good 4-6days with my usage level

If thats true, thats great, I just cant understand why samsung would ship it with a crappy battery.

Will have to tell my girlfriends sister about that.

Little trick with the Samsung phones. Charge them a few times whilst the phone is off. This makes the battery fully charge when not in use and you will find that after doing this a few times it will hold its charge a lot better.

The Samsung U600 is a pretty decent phone. Samsung withdrawn it but have decided to relaunch it in the next few weeks.

It may be worthwhile waiting for a few weeks as Samsung are releasing a new 700 series, looks really nice what I have seen of it. Not had any major info through yet for it though.

I have just got the D840 Ultra Edition. Very sturdy build quality and I must admit am very impressed with it. Comes with 80Mb internal memory and can be upgraded with a Micro SD card. You can get them free on most 12 month contracts now. The one I have is the brushed chrome effect and looks the part. Even better that it is my new works mobile.

I'll have to give that a try. I got my u600 a week ago and have been pleased so far. The camera is excellent. Slapped in a 1GB microSD card and Ive got all the space I need.

I really like the D840, it looks expensive and has a good weight about it.

I didnt get one because my mate is on his FIFTH one!! The sounds stopped working, the screen, the slider - you name , its broke. Plus, my other mate is on his second due to a faulty screen and no sound - not good from what Ive seen.

Thats problem with the latest phones these days, they not tested properly. instead the manufacturer rely's on the consumer response for feedback and review of the products so that they can better it by bringing out a updated model.
