    O2, Orange and T-mobile

    Hey guys,

Just wanted to let everyone using 08/077 numbers to be aware that o2, orange and t-mobile have started charging for usage of these numbers and pls check your bills before making call to those numbers again.

With o2 if you have a contract before 27 Apr 2007 then this does not apply. If you do have a contract before this date, hold on to these contracts and do not upgrade otherwise you will loose this "privileged".

    Cheers

Orange have been charging for 0800 etc on my phone for the last 2 years. As in I am either charged or it comes out of my free minutes.

Pretty sure T-Mobile have been doing the same too for quite a while.

But whats the deal 077 ? Arent they just normal mobile numbers?

Either that or i've had a 'special' number for the past 5 years

    EDIT:
OK, it's not all 077 numbers, just some blocks are listed as PNS (Personal Number Service) numbers.

Personally i think this is an OfCom mess up. Years ago all mobiles moved to the 07 prefix (i used to have a 0411 which changed to 0711 i think). They should have allowed companies to deviate from this.

i should have been clearer, the numbers i was talking about were the 0844/0845/0870 numbers for using with o2 to call international and 07744/07755 for t-mobile and orange to call abroad too. these numbers used to be included in your call plan minutes but not anymore...

Also when calling credit card companies, use the phone number for contacting them when you are arboad instead of the 0845 or 0870. Its quicker and cheaper. It usually goes straight to a person instead of a menu (depending on the company) which is better.

Aah, but whilst they have been removed from the allowance, there is a new number range that is allowing cheap international calls so, in essence, although these have been removed, there are numbers available that are a lot cheaper than a 'std' international call
