Moved to T-Mobile from O2 a couple of months ago and think they have the best prices out there at the mo (flext + wnw). Coverage can be bad but I experienced a lot of dropped calls on O2 as well and O2 consistently provided the worst customer service I've *ever* experienced

really im quite impressed by there cs im never waiting for more than a few secs (although i qualify for the premimum service as i normally pay over £40 a month) issues generally do get sorted quickly, apart from the lack of support for my phone. I get good coverage as well my gf has virgin and her coverage is rathered limited to say the least

Yes - I ordered on line not in store (apparently they have different support policies for each) and have experienced:

    1) Upgrades going missing from the system - called up to order 2 new phones and 1 week later phoned up to find they had no history of the order. Did the same thing for another 2 weeks before anything turned up

    2) Roaming call rate reduction thing - called up to ask if my phone would be OK in France (some years ago) and was told yes and that if I changed my payment plan for that month I'd get much lower call rates while I was there for £3 extra. Never happened. No record of it at all and ended up paying 95p / minute to *receive* calls - got nowhere with complaining over the phone and sent in 2 letters which apparently never arrived despite royal mail saying otherwise

    3) Next time I tried to upgrade was told I couldn't get the phones I wanted for free even though they were free for new customers on £25 pm contracts - I was told I didn't spend enough despite both contracts being > £40 a month 11 out of 12 months of the year.

    4) Told them I wanted to end my contract and was bribed into staying by the retentions team... However it took them 3 months after that to set up the discounts properly on both contracts.

    5) Next upgrade comes around and I'm told all's fine... New phones arrive OK... I'm thinking maybe they sorted out the problems. Then on my next bill I see that they're reverted my contract back to the higher rates despite me asking at the time if it would change anything. Took me another month to sort that out and even then they actually applied double discount to 1 account instead of the discount on both - after 3 calls to get them to sort it out I gave up

Add to this the fact that something like 1 in 3 bills were incorrectly calculated - e.g. showing I had 400 free messages but getting charged for anything over 50 messages, sometimes getting charged for voicemail and sometimes not, I finally gave up when my contracts ran out this year.

If money is no object, then vodafone win hands down every time - BUT thats their problem, they are far too expensive and don't offer good value for money unless your a heavy user (things get better on the £35+ tarrifs).

Otherwise, 3 is your best bet (and my vote/current network). Coverage rivals Vodafone, I get a signal almost everywhere I go, 90% of the time its a 3g signal. Voice quality is fine, and theres none of this 'call dropout' that you used to get with three.

Data is where three really excel though - 1gig free per month? Brilliant. Free MSN Messenger for life? Awesome. Its usually fast too, and as I have an N73 I have access to nokias cool web browser (light years ahead of anything on the Sony or Microsoft based handsets) browsing the 'real' internet is simple and quick to do. When you get to the extras (orb, Skype, Live TV) things get more impressive..

Customer service? Well this has long been threes problem, and they seem to have no UK staff...BUT all their support agents seem to be able to speak good english, they always understand me and have always been very very helpful so far..I was shocked when I phoned 3 up and got good service from them - I had expected some 02 or Orange like affair but it was actually good service..

Three have changed - well worth a look

    Three tbh.
Although the CS is useless at best, there isnt a provider out there that can compete on Price vs Extras

I have used O2 for 5+ years now and not had a problem with them. I also now have a P&G T-Mobile which to be honest is great too.

    Vodafone by miles for me.

Been round them all and although VF is a bit more expensive, my experience of their customer service makes me think it's worth it.

Also, I'm a bit out in the sticks and coverage is patchy at best with the other providers, but VF is 100%.

I'm a big McLaren fan so when I go to Silverstone I'll just show my phone and get straight into the pit lane. That's how it works, yeah ?

ive been on 3mobile for just over a year and its been great. never had any problems with either phone or contract. at 10 months in, a rep phoned me up and offered me what i wanted... a load more texts inc at no extra cost, upgrade phone, etc. ive been happy. the phone choices could be better though, but imo the k800i i have is the ****

I think 3 have the best plans for texters, but their phone selection is limited to put it politely! Plus, the free MSN and eBay is a nice touch.

I would say T-Mobile for heavy data users - they also have a good selection of phones too.

I personally have the Nokia E65 on 3 on DirectText1400 - couldn't be happier with price nor service - 12 month contract too - not keen on this swing towards 18 month contracts.

    Orange seriously suck these days...

They used to do price match - so if someone else was doing a better deal you could get Orange to match it - today when I asked them about this they said they don't do them because their new "animal plans" offer great value for money - they don't they're crap! the cheapest they would offer me is £25 per month. I can get a deal from o2 for £15 a month! and nothing is as good as T-Mobiles Flext plan...

I'm stuck with Orange for another 6 months

3 have never let me down - good customer service, repaced a broken phone out of guarantee, gave me a 500 min/100 text upgrade contract for just under £5 per month. Coverage great after a few wobbles when I started with them three years ago.

Re: Which UK network is leading the pack or is on the ball?

T-mobile and 3 are the best. Excellent value contracts and good extras.

They are the only ones with extras that make sense if you need them.

Internet usage with both networks is also impressive. The other networks are failing in this area.

Re: Which UK network is leading the pack or is on the ball?

Vodafone easily the best in my experience - but yes you pay slightly more (although I don't as its all paid for by my work - even my personal calls -woot!! )

Had T-Mobile as a personal mobile phone previously- and had lots of problems with them, and then when i got my Vodafone work phone and tried to cancel my T-Mobile. First time I rang them up and waited for nearly 30mins and when finally answered, i said "hello i would like to cancel my T-mobile contract" - and i just heard a "click" as they hanged up on me :|

    Woeful!

Re: Which UK network is leading the pack or is on the ball?

I use 02, I generally use about £10 credit a month, (i have the genie one) and by doing this i get 300 texts a month free and get to keep the credit, and if you use all the texts they give you 500 free texts instead of the 300 next month!!!. Seems good to me Havn't been anywhere yet and found myself without signal either...
