been selling these for a couple of months now - couple of things you didnt mention
the 750 is 3G compatible, which gives it a distinct advantage over its similar looking closest competitor, the HP 6915 - The 6915 however, has a GPS receiver built in, an advantage to any business with people on the road
Not sure where you are getting your prices for the HTC TyTn, I currently have this at £341 + VAT and the Palm 750 at £339 + VAT, hardly a ground breaking difference in price i'm sure you will agree.
As far as the Tytn goes, aesthetics and otherwise, its a far nicer, more compact phone than the 750, with a better keyboard and the landscape view when using applications such as Excel really does make a difference.
just my 2 cents![]()
I didn't mention the 3G because we're not looking at any devices that aren't 3G so the HP was never a contender. Pricing, fair enough, I was looking at the price on Expansys. On the GPS front, the free GPS kit with the Treo currently I think levels that one out anyway, especially given that it includes TomTom 6 plus charger, cradle, etc. The keyboard issue, I don't think is as clear cut; yes, the slidey out keyboard is nice, but I found that the keys weren't any easier to operate than the Treo, size notwithstanding. I found them slippery, and found that I encountered more miskeys due possibly to the lack of separation or lesser key pressure required perhaps. The TyTN is a nice device, narrower than the Treo, but thicker. Also, as I said, I'm looking at issuing to construction types where the punishment might be a little much for it, slidey keyboard and all. That said, that's a good price for the TyTN - what company are you with?

Sorry, didnt see any reference to the 3G thing at all, it just linked to a single post though, so i may well have missed the gist of it. I have had a lot of queries about this free GPS kit, but tbh i haven't had any info on it myself, so have been unable to help other than to point people in the direction of the palm store...
ok, read the whole thread rather than just the single post that was linked before (smart of me wasnt it).
On the whole, the 750 is better designed for a *working* atmosphere, onsite and the like, whereas the Tytn is more of a *corporate* toy, perhaps a version with inbuilt GPS and rubberised keys would be more suited than the metal ones you have so rightly mentioned. A good case is of course recommended for either unit. If HTC can fit a GPS receiver into the 3300 (Orbit) then i dont see why they cant do it with the TyTn.
As for who i work for, I have resisted posting any links to my company site as i didn' want to be seen as using Hexus for advertising etc, so if this is innappropriate then I would appreciate it if a mod would remove it.

We basically are a web based company specialising in Sat Navs and PDA's
Hell, yes! I've bought off you - you were doing a RIDICULOUSLY cheap GPS deal, so I got a set up for my Axim X30. Got posted here in the Bargains thread.
well, if folks ask for Jonny (thats me) i'll happily do them a discount.
what did you buy incidentally?
edit : quick guess, was it the Navman Spin 100?
That's the bunny - spent more on the cradle and stalk than on the GPS and it works fine.
Even i didn't know which company you actually worked for Dareos![]()
Aye Nicho, they were basically being sold off because they are not SIRFstar 3, which even now has been superceded, but they were cracking little units (although the software sucked).
Business is dreadfully slow atm though, new product ranges on the horizon from several manufacturers, new op systems (mobile 6) out but not on the PDA's folks want and our refurbished supply appears to have dried up completely.
hoping things turn around soon, its soo boring atm.
Funk : I do my best not to talk about work these days, i don't mind talking about the technology etc, thats always a pleasure (ie : our first conversation about blackberry), but the actual work politics, stresses etc would turn me into a whinging git if i kept on about them, I prefer more neutral subjects like Religion, Politics and taste in women![]()
TBH, as far as we're concerned, WM5 does what we need, i.e. synch to Exchange 2K3; 6 is supposed to be better, but I'm not going bananas for it - the fact that a device is WM5 wouldn't stop me from deploying it here for instance. If we go ahead with more devices, I'll have a look at you guys.
