I'm sure the shiny user interface is entertaining for at least 30 mins - then the reality of 3-year out of date handset which cost you an arm and a leg cuts in.

The first 7 points are the most BASIC and can be found on nearly any rubbish handset.. thats pretty poor imo

Don't be surprised to see software v1.1 out in short order.

There was a post on Engadget yesterday about the lack of custom ring tones. They have a screen shot from a while ago that has a ringtone tab in iTunes. The speculation is that iTunes will start selling ringtones too. So the only way to use one is to buy it.

Everything else can be fixed with software if they want to.

I think what Apple mean by "The phone of the future" is that it's so far behind it's 3 years in front.
If anything it'll sell on bling factor. But from what I've heard to use some of the features e.g iTunes you have to take out extra subscriptions. And what happens when the battery goes tango uniform?

But I've got the N95's little brother, the N73. And I can honestly say now that the firmware is sorted and all the bugs are ironed out it's the best handset I've owned to date. The only thing that puts me off the 95 is that it's a slider. I had enough of sliders when I had the 7650

I'd take that with a pinch of salt, It definately does sms, so i dont know what that is about, unless they mean msn/aim which is a bit of a gimmick anyway, as being connected to 3g constantly kills battery in a big way.

People will buy it, but the likes of google maps and youtube will be pretty damn hellish on gprs i reckon

It does SMS but no MMS. I've heard that IM on mobile is a lot more popular in the US than it is here, just like SMS has been far more popular here than it ever has been in the US. Probably because of not all operators use GSM over there.

Who, curiosuly make up approximately 99% of the population. Apple are very good at what they do, which is marketing. I own 2 nanos, one i got free from work and the gf uses, the other i got cheaply in america. Now, the iPhone is seriously deficient when compared to say, a compact III or some of the other HTC phones, however, they are a) butt ugly and b) not really that inuitive to use. (for the record I have a Vario II)

and as for ipod owners, i am one, 30 Gb Video black model, one of the best purchases i have ever made..
