Vodaphone Upgrades

Having never had a monthly mobile before, I'm nearing the end of my first contract. Am I right in think that in order to retain my custom they will offer me a new phone? Or do I have to initiate the negotiations?

Just pop into a Vodafone shop and they will check your account and get an upgrade quote (You can actually upgrade upto 2 months early on contracts with us). Depending on your quote (usually goes on revenue generated for the contracted period) you will be informed which handsets are available to you (Team member will go over what you need from the phone and tariff etc and find what is suitable for you and make recommendations). Then it is simply sign the new agreement and away you go with your new phone.

All the phones instore carry a charged battery so you will be able to start using it straight away, one of the team will transfer numbers to the sim for you and you are good to go

Thats the way I do it and it is the same right across the board.

If you ask to cancel they'll often give you a better deal. Like Sky give customers half price for 3 months.

I havent got the balls to say I'm going to cancel. I imagine the conversation being being very short.

and if it is you just walk away and get a better deal. You may find it easier over the phone.

I've 'upgraded' through cancellations twice before on Vodafone. I'm not saying that you just phone up and cancel and they will start chucking you offers, but on the two occasions I have phoned up, the retention deals were miles and miles better than what the shop will offer or even by customer services on the phone.

Think the last one was something like keeping the same contract and paying £180 for the phone I wanted. In the end retentions did me the same deal but I only payed £20. If you are heavy user, they will probably be trying to force the phone in your hand for free
