    Recommend me a phone!

Hi, looking to get a new phone. Don't really know much about what's best! Looking at the:

    SE W810i on o2, a good choice?

    Anyone have some recommendations?

    Thanks!
    Adam.

    Re: Recommend me a phone!

The SE W850i is due out on the 14th October. Would wait for that one if you are after a W series. The SE 770i is out either today or tommorow if you are wanting something a bit smaller.

    Re: Recommend me a phone!

Thanks Ferral. What do you think of the W910i coming out soon? I like the sliding design and the shape of the 910i really appeals to me, the problem I can see though, is that it will be very expensive relative to the gains over say the 850i, for example.

So for a sliding phone seems your recommendation of the 850i will be a good choice . Can get it for £64 from Littlewoods with discount codes .

Not really too concerned about image quality from camera (as long as it's acceptable), have my Ixus 860 for that (very nice camera btw, if anyone is considering getting one).

    Re: Recommend me a phone!

£64 for that phone is a very good price.

I just bought a K800i for £100, mainly because it has AF + photo flash +lens cover.
But the W series has a better media player and Flash menus.

Check out the review + sample pics here

Looking on the SE website, from the W850 to w910:

They dropped the photo light and IR

    But added video calling
    W910i is much lighter too

What do you mean by better flash menus?

I'm also looking for a new phone, all it needs is 3G . I want a big screen, but there we go.

The SE are quite nice though the joystick is really rubbish from the friends phones I've used. I think they're phasing it out though

I think most (all?) W series SE have flash enabled, as in Macromedia flash. I believe it's just the main menu that can be flash though, not 100% sure. K800i doesn't have macromedia flash, but has a camera flash light (confusing ).

    Re: Recommend me a phone!

I went from the K800i to the W880i. You lose the flash and resolution on the camera, but the phone is so small and light, you would not believe it. The buttons are a little small, but it's a phone that gets attention when people see it.

    Cheers,
    Stephen

    Re: Recommend me a phone!

I had a W880I for a few weeks and changed it for a Nokia 6110 Navigator. I found the signal on it really bad. Even when the 3G was off. When it was beside me the bars were about 4, but as soon as I picked it up it dropped to 1 or 2 bars. This has something to do with the antenna being in the bottom of the phone, typically where you hold it when making calls. Spoke to the Ericsson rep and he passed the info onto the relevant department.

Must admit I did like it in general with it supporting MP4 and 3GP movies and with the 1Gb memory card plenty space for movies etc, it also really looked the part. But for me with the signal being the way it was no good at all really.

If you arn't bothered about the 5 Megapixel camera go with the new 770I, really snazzy looking bronze in colour with a 3.2 camera on it. From what I have seen of the 910I it is looking good as is the new P series which has touch screen and loads of onboard memory (Can't remember the exact code number for it! ).

Top one of these phones with Vodafones unlimited music downloads for £1.99 per week launching very soon you will have an ideal media device.
