Re: LG Viewty
I'm quite pleased with it. I find it user friendly enough and its got full T9 predictive text support for all you old school texters. I personally use the qwerty Keyboard, the buttons are small but it's still really easy to use! internet browsing is cool, its very similar to the iPhone's browser in many ways, and the images are really crisp and clear. Haven't played much with the camera, but it seems cool. It's got alot of options and a good lens (with manual focus options, zoom etc on the front of the lens).
So far, i'm likin' it. I got told i can upgrade after 9 months anyway, so... just in time for the Android phones.
I got my Viewty on Orange £35/month and it was free. I went into Phones 4 u and they cut me a pretty good deal (hopefully i won't get a ripping further down the line). They even payed off the rest of my current contract.

Re: LG Viewty
having a problem with the viewty, when i try to connect to any form of 3g it says "requeested host not found"... Might be something to do with the fact that my contract and bundles haven't been applied to the phone yet?

Re: LG Viewty
Im going to order one. Has anyone found a leather case for it yet? I've found this:
Leather Pouch & Crystal Case for LG KU990 Viewty
Which is the leather case and a crystal case for it...not sure on the crystal case, does it cover the whole phone touch area or just the outside? I might just get it anyway for the case, unless anyone else has found anywhere else to get one from thats better?
Can't wait to get it now, thanks for the all the great reviews, you've helped me make up my mind, and being a girl..thats got to be good LOL

Re: LG Viewty
It's official, i have packaged up my viewty this morning and sent back to O2, I will be getting a SE K850i.
LG got the design right, but didnt think about what the consumer would want the most. Anyways, time for me to unsubscribe to this thread, and start another
SE K850i hehe
Thanks for all your input guys. You can pm me if you have any questions about the viewty, as i have tested it indepth.

Re: LG Viewty
N95 on 3 was a bargain 3 months ago when I bought it and even more of a bargain last month when my fiancé got one. After having had the Vario and never used the touchscreen for typing, with or without stylus, I'm not sure I'd go back to a touchscreen phone in a hurry. I think you'd be surprised how the lack of tactile feedback slows you down.
Really, Really happy with the N95. I love the feel of it, actually think it makes a pleasant change from all the cold metallic objects out there. It doesn't feel plasticy in a cheap plastic kind of way.
BTW 8GB MicroSD cards are only about £37 now, not £50 as I saw someone posted - mymemory.co.uk had some Sandisk ones I think

Re: LG Viewty
Recoil, are you sending it back because its horrendous? Or because it doesnt suit your particular needs? Other than slightly worse pic quality than a k800 (which lets be fair, takes v. nice pics). Is there anything fundamental wrong with it (assume its for someone who doesnt care that they can only fit 3 hours of divx on there or that its not themeable)

Re: LG Viewty
I think it just doesn't suit his needs.
There is some silly little thing about it, maybe they will update the phone or something, i don't know. But one annoyance is that you can only use the keyboard layout in SMS sending, and not while browsing the internet.... WTF is with that?

Re: LG Viewty
No, you're stuck on that tariff or higher for 6 months, use quidco for £25 cash back though and it's not so bad.
O2 just gave me an N95 to replace my Orbit and a £100 credit/£20 off my line rental. Had to take 18 month contract though :( After using 3xN95's lately, a Viewety, an Iphone and an XDA Orbit I know what i'd go for personally but if you don't need SatNav then the Viewty is a fantastic option, certainly as functional as an iphone but it lacks the apple finesse. Converting divx's down to the correct screen res makes them tiny so 2GB is more than enough unless you want to keep more than 10 full length films on your phone. The best do all device out of the lot has to be the XDA Orbit though. TomTom or Co-Pilot are great and the touch screen is a lot nicer than the n95's button based approach. Shame it's an 18 month old phone and as yet nothings topped it, I was looking forward to upgrading not downgrading.

Re: LG Viewty
I don't mean upGRADE my phone, i mean update the firmware on the phone. Theres just some silly little things that could make it better.
Still like it though, i'll have to get some movies on it soon.

Re: LG Viewty
been usin my viewty now for a good few days and have to say i am more than happy with it, as is becomin obvious the camera is jus off the mark when compared to the k800i, and at first i was concerned however ive now been to the pub and in pretty low light conditions it performed perfectly well! so my initial concerns have been sorted.
the touch screen is pretty cool and you can get a tactil response by turning on the viration feature for when u press a key, i have it on as default and like it.
ive not tried the videos yet and may not use that feature too much as i have an 80G ipod video for the trian etc.... which i prefer to use.
as for games - theyre not only available from O2!!!! try mobile9.com for loads of games / themes etc..... java based and they can transfer directly with bluetooth (havent used the s/w to transfer them)
i really am struggling IMHO to find a reason to send it back, but - also IMHO - the main competitor (SE k850i) im just not happy with, small wierd keys and a resessed directional pad plus the fact it doesnt look great makes me think hmmmmm i prfer the viewty.
there are STILL features that ive not properly used yet, many on the camera and even more on the video function.....
.....the ONE thing i can think of that would need looking at is the 120fps feature, when u record for some reason the screen goes darker.....so u it helps if u bump up the brightness before hand - i dunno why this happens??? but also i was recording in not great light anyway, i plan on using it when im playin snooker and under the spotlights im sure itll be much better.
ive not had any problems with the 3G and find the web page browing very easy to use, facebook, gmail, football scores etc....
i dont mind the stylus at all and if you use the screen protector youve no need to worry about the screen scratching.......although i AM after the leather case as i think it looks better and sets my mind at ease about the only stupid design fault - no lens cover (i mean seriously sum1 f***ed up there didnt they! hehehe)
anyway that all my opinion im sure others would agree/disagree but hope that it settles any niggles sum ppl have.....
its a perfectly good phone/camera/recording video/music/video playback device for ppl who are on the go and want a phone full of features plus all the usual expected features (T9 etc) and also it to look grat and down the pub your mates want a go! ;)

Re: LG Viewty
I have a home-made leather case for my LG Viewty. The lack of lens cover was a stupid design fault. But, my Danish assistant sewed together an old piece of leather she found on the street into a personalised cover for my phone. Look.
I keep the stylus in the bottom and the phone is in PERFECT condition after about 3 weeks of use. Version 2 will have a small hole in the side so that I can plug in headphones, USB cables etc. without having to take it out of the case. Got any ideas?
