Re: Sony Ericsson goes Windows Mobile with Xperia X1 'arc slider'

A lot of windows mobile 5 and 6 devices I have used seem to operate a bit slowly compared to my trusty pda dell axim x30i. I wonder if there will be anything better in the cpu department for this phone running above the 250Mhz ish speed I have experienced in a range of smartphones.

That all said really nice looking phone, and with HTC behind it can't go wrong really!

Re: Sony Ericsson goes Windows Mobile with Xperia X1 'arc slider'

I just E-mailed T-mobile and got wifi added onto my half price web'n'walk price plan.

So now I gets 900 mins or 1800 texts, 10 gig of HSDPA and Wifi use for £28.75 a month!

Currently I have a K850i which doesnt have Wifi, but I'll get one of these or a G900 later this year.

Why would you have to pay (your phone company) for WiFi, surely you just find a WiFi hotspot and go?

He means so that he doesn't have to pay for WiFi access at a T-Mobile WiFi hotspot, most hotspots require some form of subscription (e.g. 1 hour or 1 month of usage) to actually get access to the internet through them.

@Bhavv Did you post that on the esato forums because I'm sure I've read that before :S

Re: Sony Ericsson goes Windows Mobile with Xperia X1 'arc slider'

Yup. My contract owns. 50% off for life

I post about it everywhere and dislike the I phone for not even having 3g for my modem use.

How are apple going to compete with this? Sure they can release a better I phone, but they are on an exclusive contract with O2 who still dont have a decent 3g coverage or support modem use on their phones yet.

Whenever im not at my PC, my phone is my internet, and when im at my PC my phone is my modem, so I couldnt make do without a HSDPA device or my 10 gig data tariff. And I get unlimited free wifi use under that 10 gig limit now, thats what I meant before.

Xperia will be real internet in my pocket, not just opera mini on a k850i, or an I phone with no 3g.

    ..... WANT!

    Memory

Phone memory: up to 400 MB
    microSD™ memory card support
Does this mean that SE have given up on their M2 memory format (at least for their high end phones)?

    Sweet! never noticed that.

I used to argue in sony's favour for the MemoryStick format. Back-in-the-day there was a real case for it. It was much quicker and more flexible than the other formats of the day (SmartMedia and CompactFlash) but with the SD/SDHC interface along with the reduced forma factor variants being so prevelant, there really isn't a need for MemoryStick now.

CompactFlash for uber high capacity, transfer rates and universal acceptance, and SD/SDHC for everything else.

Maybe, maybe not. This phone was not design or built by Sony Ericsson (i think it was HTC).

Re: Sony Ericsson goes Windows Mobile with Xperia X1 'arc slider'

I know there are no offical figures out but based on the way previous mobiles have been developed and then released, can anyone speculate on the release date? They say the summer 09, but is there a sort of 'ideal' time in the summer companies try to release their products for? (ie winte rbeing before christmas).

Not only that, what sort of contracts do you think the X1 will be on? Will it be rival to say the N95 of today and be on £30+ plans? Or an iphone & cost a fortune no matter what contract you go for?

Only reason i ask is my contract comes up this April and i dont want to get my hopes up too high for the X1.
