Replaced N73 LCD, now TomTom display is dark / blue tint...

    Hey Guys,

Had a google, seems theres someone else out there with the same problem as me.

I've tried updating the phone, and re-installing TomTom (6.01 or 6.02) but when TomTom is running there is a sort of blue tint over the whole screen, which makes using it in daytime absolutely useless.

    Any ideas?

Try updating the phones software. You can get the update tool from the Nokia site. Try that first before anything else

Hi, the fault described has more to do with the way that TomTom pulses the backlight function of the LCD and has nothing to do with dark colours.

A reliable workaround fix that works well is pressing the multimedia key (on the RHS of the keypad) a couple of times whilst TomTom is first launched. I actually configured TomTom to launch from the middle Multimedia Key as an attempted (re)launch of the currently running TomTom works also.

Following this process, the backlight will remain properly illuminated in TomTom even if you switch between tasks (try it, hold down your taskmgr button on opposite LHS, go to standby, then repeat back to TomTom).

Go ahead and do Nokia firmware updates if you wish but be cautioned, there may be undesired effects as you risk the loss of both settings and data in the process - use PC Suite to perform a complete backup before commencing any firmware download.

It's nothing to do with the firmware sadly, its a direct result of changing the LCD rather than updating the phone... but i'll see if there is an even newer one out...

I cant get this to work, the screen will 'flash' to proper colours when switching between - or when i get a phonecall, or plug the phone in to charge etc, but i havent managed to 'toggle' it.. what firmware are you running? (*#0000#)

thanks to a chap here the temp fix (that works every time) is to hit power and select 'lock keypad' and then the display is the right color -- not great if you need to change stuff, ie volume, but great if you dont need to fiddle
