    Re: Rant about WM devices

Thankfully, the low RAM issue doesn't come into play with the 3 phones I need to choose from:

    Touch Pro/Touch HD/Xperia X1

I really wish Orange would hurry up and ger a branded version of one of these in!

yes! i updated the phone to 6 about 6 months ago (cant remember which rom but it was PERFECT), then just used it for satnav until a few days ago when i though id have a see how things had moved on.

currently trying a firmware a day, and thinking of buying a keyboardless device like an orbit for the extra portability - i may even use it as an actual phone rather than some kind of "educational toy / satnav screen" which is what the wizard has become..

i WANT a everyday WMphone, but it has to displace the stupidly easy no frills k770i normalphone, which is a challenge

    Re: Rant about WM devices

Have you used the on screen keyboard from the new HTC devices. I think it's the Opal keyboard.

Very nice! I don't think I'd bother with a slide out keyboard in the future.

I am having the same thought. Been waiting for O2 to release the HTC Touch Pro but now am considering the HTC Touch HD. The HD has no keyboard and no flash on the camera but does have a 3.5mm headphone port and a bigger screen. Release date in the UK for the HTC Touch HD is the 17th of November btw.

    Re: Rant about WM devices

I got the omnia from Orange last week and couldnt stand it. Sent it back after a day.

WM6 isnt too bad but the fact that Samsung decided not to put the Stylus in the phone and made it a dangly thing was annoying and then the interface they chose to put on themselves.

Too many Smartphone operators are trying to make an iphone clone and IMO the Iphone isnt that great. They should do their own thing instead of aping apples device

yes but no, iv put it on and its selectable fine, keyboard comes up all pretty and stuff but clicking stuff doesn't actually add any text :/ more reading and experimenting needed i think. it does look very polished though

I'm on 1.3.3 of the Lilly ROM for the Touch Dual with a 1.65.29.22 radio ROM, and that's a cracking mix so far.

I've been thoroughly enjoying my new Xperia X1 for the past few days

Very speedy, and watching TV shows on the screen is a treat!

I looked at the X1 and have decided on getting the HTC Touch HD later on this month. Although I am interested in your opinion of how strong you feel the X1 is as I constantly drop my phone from small heights.

Also how do you find the interface on the X1?

    Re: Rant about WM devices

i couldnt wait for the x1 and went for the diamond. i had the choice of the touch pro over the diamond but i went for the thinner, lighter model and havent looked back. the onscreen keyboard on the new HTC's can really only be appreciated when you use it.

i also have an old wizard and i got a nice crossbow 6.1 rom from XDA devs, worked perfectly and it looks way better than WM5 ever did.

Generally data charges are around £1.50 a meg / minute I think, so it would be an expensive option for you to consider. However if your on t-mobile you can get web 'n' walk for 5 days for £2.50 which is a bit of a bargain! Or alternatively £1 a day, check the link below!

    http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/services/m...t-it/#existing

Not sure whether other networks offer something similar.
