Can't choose!

I'm due an upgrade from Orange but have absolutely no idea what's what.
Some things I'm looking for..

High quality camera
Touch screen
Wifi (hoping to be able to use Skype)
Abundance of applications

Could anyone help me out? I'm not up to date on these things, I still have a Motorola Razr..

The Touch HD is loooooovely! Thats what I would go for if it was me.

A friend however thought it was far too big so he went for the Touch instead. I was playing with it last night and it is very pretty.

Is the LG a Windows Mobile device, or random-LG-OS?

You are going to find a lot more software of WinMob than you will for an LG OS.

Ah yes, that's a good point right there.. having read up some more it's not too clear wether I can add third party apps to the LG.

Also been reading about the camera quality of the HTC being pretty dire.

No, HTC aren't exactly famed for their camera quality.

But having had a camera phone for the last 5 years or so I doubt the number of photos I've taken with then has reached 3 figures. So not exactly a priority for me

Agreed. On all of the HTC phones I've owned, the camera quality has been pretty dire...to the point where for example, with my Vario II, I probably took 30 or so pictures with it...

Having said that, the Xperia X1 that I'm using now is much better than all of the previous WinMo phones I've used...although it's still debatable whether it's any improvement over my aging K750i's camera ...it might be worth considering though?

I think part of the reason windows mobiles have had bad cameras is because they were business centric. But with the Touch, Touch Diamond etc. more and more are being sold in the highstreet as regular phones. So hopefully things will improve with future generations of HTC devices.

Thanks for your input guys, I just this minute ordered the LG KC910.
The HTC was out of stock and they wanted to charge me £295 for it!

The LG set me back £123, still I think this is pretty high for being on a £45 a month contract but I'm in dire need of a handset as mine just crapped out on me so just went with it. I did knock them down from £195 though.

I think Orange are the only ones that still advertise that service, even though it is part of the GSM spec.

So basically, they have you over a barrel for it

I did give it a good few phone calls and alot of chat to try and pick it up but free but they wouldn't budge. Best I could do was that price, if I wasn't in such need of a working phone I probably would have looked at a few more alternatives to the contract but as it goes, my handset is pretyt much dead which is a real nuisance.

Ended up sending the LG Renoir back to Orange this morning, just didn't get on with it. The camera and video capabilities are excellent, it's just the operating system and lack of anything useful that put me off.

Got on the phone to Orange and they're sending me out the HTC Touch HD, shall see how I get on with that.
