Not much help but tomtom (costs more than £30) does maps of just about every where, thats assuming the glofish has a memory card. A good forum for info is
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/
Route 66 is really good. You can get it for Windows Mobile, £40 for the disk with UK maps. Then you can buy area maps directly from the software itself instead of buying all of Europe.

yup the X800 has a memory card so space isn't an issue (it also has loverly high res screen)
the problem is both of those are road maps....
If only the open mapping project was better, as it stands i can buy:
http://www.oziexplorer.com/
for 30 euro, but actually get the map data (which seams quite good on the websites) into the device seams like pain.

I havent used oziexplorer, but do have memorymap navigator OS maps of the UK. Think have some maps of other euro countrys, might be worth having a look.
i was looking at MapTech which is a sister company i think, but no good coverage of Switerzland, the thing is the OSM project has, but no good renderers that don't require about 5 million hoops to jump through.
Think i'm just going to buy a local pre-pay sim!

Have you checked out fugawi, if not google it
Just checked and dont think they do area maps, just the entire country which costs £$$£$$£££
