Installed a new custom ROM on my Kaiser

I've been fairly happy with the old Dutty ROM I've been using for the past 6 months or so, but I thought I should go and have a look at what's new.

It looks like 'sakajati' has taken over from Dutty as being the big ROM chef.

Hyperdragon is an amazing looking ROM!

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=397121

It uses all the new HTC software from the Opal, Diamond and Touch Pro. Very, very slick! It's also turned into a very fast device, as I believe there is some graphics drivers in there now too.

The only problem I've found with this Hyperdragon ROM is that although the screenshots show the lovely PhoneCanvas and the build logs show it listed, it doesn't seem to work. A quick download and install of the CAB and away you go, a great modern finger friendly dialer.

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=430354

Also installed the latest Opera Mobile cab, but haven't played about with that yet.

Re: Installed a new custom ROM on my Kaiser

Just downloading and getting ready to install a few cabs from sakajati's virtual drive.

    http://www.4shared.com/account/home.jsp

Oh, and I also updated to PocketCM 0.25 from 0.18 or something. It's a lot faster and more stable too. Gives proper threaded text messaging (did it before WinMob6.1) and is also finger friendly.

Can you repost the url for the 4shared link please? Your link just goes to the 4shared homepage.

Thanks for posting about this as well, its time for a new rom on my kaiser. I'm sick of connection manager popping up all the time.

Re: Installed a new custom ROM on my Kaiser

    Ah, so it does.

It's also in the second post in that XDA Devs thread.

    http://sakajati.4shared.com/

This ROM really does make the Kaiser feel like a new device. I wasn't so taken with it last night, but with the PhoneCanvas installed it is excellent.

Re: Installed a new custom ROM on my Kaiser

Just installed the Raphael Keyboard from that CAB collection.

It's actually the first time i've used a touch screen keyboard that doesn't suck

This is how this phone should have been from the start!

The only thing that lets it down is when you get dumped into the horrible Windows Mobile UI for setting alarms, changing settings, ringtones etc.

The same tasks on a WindowsMobile device is going to generate the same volume of data isn't it?

Nope... the piephone is much less mature as far as activesync goes, no scheduling.. only inbox synced etc.

and my iphone on average would use 5mb a day during normal running whereby a xda would use about only 35mb a month!

Re: Installed a new custom ROM on my Kaiser

Have you gone through this guide first?
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=433835

You need to do a HardSPL and CID-unlock the first time you flash your device.

After that, you just run the rom flash utility that comes with the ROM.

Re: Installed a new custom ROM on my Kaiser

No, I haven't tried L26, but I do like the look of it. HyperDragon was the first new one I tried and liked it so thought I would stick to it.

There are a few bits of configuration and tweeking you need to do. Things like downloading the ringtone packs from the CAB site. I also used to have it configured so when i hold the call button for a few seconds the Comm Manager appears, but can't find a way to set that, I'll need to find what tool Dutty used to bundle to set all that.

    Nothing major though.
