    Ruined my phone already?

Just received my new HTC touch diamond, and couldn't resist having a play while it was on it's first charge I know you're supposed to leave it charging a good few hours while switched off, to properly charge the battery.

Will it make any difference if I fully discharge the battery, then fully charge with it switched off?

    Anyone else have no will-power?

It should be fine. Generally speaking you should charge it fully from its intial charge. Then subsquently fully power cycle the battery as often as possible / can to maintain its life.

PM me your address buddy and i'll have it there in a jiffy!

Seriously though, I should be alright if I fully discharge then recharge (while switched off) next time?

    Good phone btw guys

Not always practical though. What if you had 1 or 2 bars remaining at night, and you had a long trip ahead of you the day after.. you'd stick it on charge so you'd have full bars, right?

    Re: Ruined my phone already?

    Na, no difference whatsoever.

What I would do though is turn it off at night and charge it overnight. Do that for a few days to condition the battery on it. Battery on the touch diamond isn't overly great and HTC have admitted that one. But if you do the turn off overnight charge a few times a month you should have no probs with it at all.

That is the general rule of thumb with most phones now anyhow

Just charge whenever, it will be fine. Modern batteries don't suffer from problems if not fully discharged...

That is true hence why I said power cycle as often as possible Its a pain to have the battery die on you. The battery life provided by the stock battery is poor anyhow chances are it will be on charge a lot of the time! On average my HTC Kaiser II requires a charge every 2 days.

On the subject of your phone software get yourself over to www.xda-developers.com and flash yourself a nice customised windows mobile 6.1 rom when you get bored of the stock supplied apps. Alternatively install the wide variety of apps onto the stock software. I highly recommend manilla 2d / 3d as a replacement for htc home.

The default software with the Touch Diamon is much better than the default TyTN II or original Touch software, so flashing a custom ROM (and binning any warranty or network technical support) isn't as necesary as it once was. Although, give it a few months and newer software builds will make it better. There is also the promise of Windows Mobile 6.5 now too.

Just remember, there is a chance of bricking your device when playing with ROMs, although there have been several workarounds for getting them unbricked, but it's seat of the pants stuff.

I have a TyTN II, so only played with ROMs for that. Dutty is pretty big in the ROM scene and used to cook for the TyTN II comunity when he used that as his main phone. So he might be worth a look.

I don't know if there is a huge amount of change with using a new ROM for the Touch Diamond yet, although removing the network crap might be a bonus in itself. What network are you on?

I used to use Dutty's series on my Kaiser and currently I seem to flashing to the newest hyper dragon III roms every few weeks. I don't sadly have a diamond so can't really comment much on that phone, I've never ventured into the diamond section of the forum either.

The only part of flashing a rom that I found hard was the intial flashing to hard spl. Screw that up and your in trouble... Although you can get yourself out it, but not easily I don't believe like Funkstar said. Once thats out the way flashing roms in my opinion is no problem at all.

Taking into account what funkstar said, perhaps wait a little while for the release of WM 6.5. Beforehand make sure you keep up with the latest releases of HTC Audio Manager + HTC Home.

Possibly if you want to, have a play around with different radio firmwares. May improve battery life.

If you decide to give Manilla a go there is a workaround to fix the problem of the messed up landscape display, it doesnt natively rotate yet..

    Re: Ruined my phone already?

I'm on Orange Funkstar. How do I flash it to the official HTC 1.93 rom? Mine is 1.37 I think.

Battery life is indeed bad, it lasted from 7am today untill about 5 mins ago, but I was playing with it all day
