Okay that was not the disc i was looking for

here's the story

I got MY Sony experia X1 yesterday from Vodafone and i just go around to having a poke around on the cd that has the sticker

"windows Mobile 6 Pro w/office mobile"

i double click the icon for the DVD drive the disc is in and what pop's up other than the windows xp Professional installer.

Anyone else had this before? I have a feeling they mounted the wrong disc at the factory.

Here's what i found out so far

The disc is boot able (at least in virtual box)
it Appears to be a Volume disc (i don't know who's Could be Vodafone or Sony Ericsson)

I'm installing now to see if the key has been embedded.

Dont worry i will contact Vodafone im just being curious here

update there was no cd key on the disc didn't think they would be that stupid to be honest

i've just sent a message to SE legal to get there say on it Doubt i'll get a response tonight

I wonder if they've given you their master or internal disc instead.

I'd check it for rootkit stuff... you never know with sony now

It won't be Vodafone. Stores etc get them in with security tags on the boxes. Something to do with possibly SE or the factory that packaged it I reckon.

Best bet is to contact SE and if no luck there then follow up with Vodafone. Bear in mind that it is a 14 day money back / return policy. They may want the handset and full packaging back and do a swap out for you hence why I mentioned 14 day.

there's nowt wrong with the phone I just found it amusing that there was a XP pro SP2 VL disc where my device disk should be. it's even got the proper label on the top I'll send a picture of the disk later

How is the phone anyway? Looking to get one when o2 sort out their stock issues

very nice it runs faster than most of the htc phones and feels very solidly buit one downside would be the wieght
