Re: any one had this happen to them before ?

If you don't use the net on your mobile at all like Tak said change the settings on it. Easiest way to do it to stop it from connecting is change a contract mobile setting to Prepay and vice versa. If you set it like that at least you arn't deleting the setting incase you want to use it at a later date. Contract and Prepay have different settings so if you change the setting over you will get a connection error and won't get charged.

To do this on an Ericsson :

Menu > Settings > Conectivity (tab on far right) > Internet settings > Connect Using

Open Connect Using and there is a list of net settings. Change it to the opposite to what you are on (Prepay or Contract and select). Then it stops it from connecting and is easily changed back if you want to use it.

if it's like mine turn off the 3g in settings>connectivity>mobile networks>gsm/3g networks and select GSM only as it calls out a little sometimes.

Re: any one had this happen to them before ?

Nokia are the worst for connecting to the net. They have an always on connection feature so as soon as you hit the net button it is there. Thankfully Nokia are the only ones that do this and can be deactivated. I'm using an Ericsson K850i at the min and to stop it from connecting I just done what I said previous post. Works everytime!!!

3G and GSM are the speeds at which it communicates, its the equivalent of the old 56k modems and broadband but on mobiles. Anything that is data is transmitted faster with a 3G signal. 3G is supposed to give better quality voice calls also, I prefer analogue GSM though as 3G where I live can occasionally be a bit flaky with the signal.

Re: any one had this happen to them before ?

i had the same issue with ym nokia n73 connecting to the net so i changed my settings but was still getting charged (am on PAYG) so i phoned up o2 and they told me that you get charged 1p for a connection attempt regardless of whether or not you connect to the net.

i had to hash up my settings and disable 3G and such in the end.

now if i switch my phone off and on again it resets and starts doing it so can never let my battery run out.
