Virgin have always been a virtual off T-Mobile, so that would be a no.

You can only use Virgin SIM cards in a Virgin locked handset as they GID1 lock their handsets so you can't use T-Mobile or other T-Mobile virtual SIM cards. However you can use Virgin and other T-Mobile virtual SIM cards in locked T-Mobile branded handsets last I checked.

It always used to be the case that Virgin would unlock a PAYG handset if you asked them to. Not sure if that's the case any more, though.

IIRC it was topup with at least £30 credit and get the code for free, however since May last year it's been a flat £15 fee on PAYG.

I think it depends on how much you spent on it

Depending on the handset it could be easy or hard

My moms Virgin SIM works fine in a T-mobile phone (brand new Samsung) with no modification needed.
My Virgin SIM also works in every unlocked phone I've tried, so they defo don't need a Virgin locked handset.

i think what he is saying is you can only use Vmob sim in a Vmob phone but you can use a Vmob sim in a T-mob phone ! IE you cant put a T-mob sim in a V-mob phone.

Re: Are Virgin mobile locked mobiles compatible with o2?

I do not trust dodgy shops/market stalls/unlocking websites after seeing many damage handsets.

I only advocate getting codes and paying the unlocking tax from the original networks (even this can go wrong) or buying simfree/unsubsidised handsets these days.

Re: Are Virgin mobile locked mobiles compatible with o2?

I recently unlocked my wifes Sony from Virgin to O2, I gave Virgin a call they charged me 15 quid and it was done. I looked into getting it done in a shop which would have cost about a tenner, but I figured if I had any problems I could go back to Virgin and get them sorted.

Re: Are Virgin mobile locked mobiles compatible with o2?

what about those online places that do it for ~£3 ? thats a significant saving

i just find it ridiculous that it costs as much as the phone, to unlock the phone
