    Free Upgrade Choices

    I currently have a SE K800i.

I got a few phones I can upgrade to (for free) and here are the choices:

    Samsung U900 "Soul"
    Samsung Tocco
    SE C902
    SE W980i

Basically which is the better choice; the requirement is that it has to work in Japan. There are more available but I see them as "downgrades".

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

SE all the freaking way. I will personally track you down and give you an indignant slap if you do anything else.

I have a C702, and would thus put my vote in for the C902, which is the same only better. You should also check if the 902 has a li-pol battery like the 702. Those are much more efficient, and hold their charge far better than li-ion.

Alternatively, since you have such a classic of a phone, why not force your operator to cut you a cheaper deal in lieu of an upgrade? £5 off on your monthly line rental equates to £90 on an 18-month contract, and seeing as you seem to be on a relatively high-tariff, they could even accept chopping off £10 if you opt not to go for a new phone.

    Re: Free Upgrade Choices

Just stay away form the Samsung phones, especially the two you have the choice of.
They are really not good. Tocco is about as much use as the LG Viewty and the Soul is very cheap n nasty, and you would not want to be stuck with it for 18 months.

Stick with Nokia (if possible or Sony)

The tocco isnt bad at all really, its mixed opinions as if you dont like touchscreen you will hate it. The new tocco ultra is out soon which has an 8mp and touch screen along with keypad .

SE are good but i like the look of the LG's and samsungs .

Get either the tocco or c902 from that list.

I have heard how cheap and nasty the Soul feels and seems to have a bug of a blank screen when someone calls. The Nokias offered to me are either downgrades or the N95/N96 both of which I don't like the look of.

My sister has the Tocco and it's a nice phone but I want a keypad to text. There is no stylus!!! Looking into getting the C905 if I can, a much better equipped phone than the C902 and I can keep/move my M2 memory stick

What the hell? You call up about going through with the upgrade and the C902 is now £40 to upgrade to and the C905 is £160!!!

So...going back to online upgrade and the C902 is still free and the C905 is £88.55...Weird!

    Re: Free Upgrade Choices

    Lol, well prices do change.

If you like touch screen phones, choose Tocco. But seeing as you like a keypad then I guess it's an SE then. The Samsung Soul doesn't seem anything near attractive to me.

I'm not too familiar with the C902 vs C905 but apparently C902 has better firmware or something and it leads to sharper photos (which may or may not look nicer depending on your opinion).

    Re: Free Upgrade Choices

Ended up clearing most of myold messages. Saving the important ones to the sim card worked.

Oh and for those interested, both K800i and the C905 uses Lithium-polymer batteries.

Martin Field's screen portector...worth the £10 to buy?

You could use "MyPhoneExplorer" to save to a PC for future reference or transfer to a phone note.

    Go for the Blackberry

3.2mp camera, GPS, wifi, media player (3.5mm connector, unlike my 8820) and everything else that's awesome that you get with a Blackberry.
