I have the 8900 Curve and love it. Takes a little getting use to a Blackberry as nothing is where it normally would be.
Another thing to remember about the Blackberry is that you have to pay for the Blackberry email if you are wanting to use email on it using a push service. If its just web based mail though you can get the unlimited data addon and go to the relevant sites.
Blackberry software is really easy to use, Roxio is included in the suite for transferring MP3 and converting your vid files to the format the phone supports and also transferring them over. It has a 3.2 camera and some of the shots you can get look really good as it has a decent flash also. I mainly use mine for email and media and it works a charm.
Nokia E71 is also a decent phone but I personally feel it looks and feels a little cheap. I would suggest going into a store and get your hands on both devices and have a play around wth them before making a decision.
damn the E71 would work out much cheaper for me. than the curve
Its down to personal preference mate, I have sold quite a few E71 and everyone seems happy enough with them, no problems what I am aware of at present.
But like I mentioned, for email if you are wanting push you have to have the Blackberry addon. I'm with T Mobile and after internet and Blackberry email is added I pay £44 per month for my contract.
However, if you are with O2 you can get the curve for £35 per month and that gets you unlimited Blackberry data (push email and internet usage), 600 x-net mins and 500 SMS. The phone on that tariff is free also.
I got the Curve 2 days ago and love it, I'm on o2 which allows unlimited push email aswell as the data. Even got it working with my exchange servers email quite painlessly, just pointed the email to my servers web access address and it pushes it to my handset fine, of course you don't get synced calendars etc with this method, but you don't get the pain of having to try and setup BES either.
In the internets, no one can hear you sarcasm.
I found the opposite.Nokia E71 is also a decent phone but I personally feel it looks and feels a little cheap
The BB felt a little plastic whilst the E71 felt very metalic and well presented.
Personally, I prefer E71 - looks way classy unlike blackberry curve!
It good on the pocket too. My friend just got a brand new E71 on 3 - £20 a month with unlimited internet & emails and she's really happy with it.
Well my brothers E71 just arrived today and I have to admit I am impressed. Build quality is superb![]()
the E71 i looked at in the shop gave me the impression the keys would rub off easily after some use. and I did prefer the curve keyboard size, but then again the E71 felt like a better build quality
Blackberry Curve - simply because I've bounced from phone to phone to phone for years and finally got a Blackberry on unlimited push and internet and it's a dream. A lot of my work is email based and being able to control everything from one device in such a nice organised way is a killer. I've also heard the Curve 8900 is a really good phone too, lol! From the hype that Blackberries/G1/iphones get, you definitely have to see (and realise) why![]()
I got a Nokia E71 yesterday on the three £20, unlimited Internet, unlimited text, 200 any time mims + a few other things. I've really enjoyed using it so far, got the email clients setup no bother, just got it monitoring a gmail account that I have all my emails forwarded to. The internet is fine to use, but I could imagine it would benefit from a large screen and more pixels. Not really an issue with the Internet, but can be a problem when reading PDFs. Keyboard is fine, it seems to know which button I wanted to press when I mash 2 keys at once by mistake, and will ignore the unintended press. Not had a chance to play with the predictive text stuff. The podcasting feature seems intresting but not a chance to fiddle with it yet. I don't like the 2.5" jack, so you can use 'normal' headphones with it, but you can get adaptors for a few quid;

The camera is better than I had expected, so will be fine for pictures at unexpected times.
i decided not to take the plunge, and ended up going onto simplicity whilst I wait and see which one I want.
Best way to do it if you are unsure, SIMO are great deals if your current handset is in good condition.
