    Re: iPhone 3

Some of the stuff on the forums is fairly accurate, you still get the odd nub shouting "omgz fake! shopped!" etc, similar stuff (out of the Chinese factories) was very accurate prior to the 3G launch, so I've no real inclination to doubt it (magenetometer, autofocus cam) now.

Others are fairly logical assumptions given business arrangements (OLED screens from the partnership with LG), but we won't be able to tell until the keynote unless there are more factory leaks.

wow. chill out. i guess they made 2 generations but 3 versions between. during the 1 gen of the phone they did release a 2nd version of the phone during Q4 of that year or during Q1 of the following (can't remember exactly but I think it was 6 months after the release of the first iphone). Unfortunately I got my facts mixed up. I'm terribly sorry about that, and feel rather confused as to why you would get so worked up/furious over a simple mistake.

The second release of the first gen hardware was with more memory, that is all.

New 16 and 32GB iPhones are on the Carphone systems. O2 shops are useless, they are about as clued up as ... I dunno, Alicia Silverstone? I have no idea if Apple have changed the specification. They really need to up the camera to something better and add a flash. How long has it taken them to add MMS to their software?

There are "apparantly" many new hardawre changes in addition to the increased memory capacity.

    Re: iPhone 3

We will find out tomorrow later today

From what I've read though, it sounds like a little refresh rather than new hardware.

Thats what they always say. When you look at it though its not really that impressive! Oh well roll on 18:00 ...

Oh and they are going to put new CPU's in their unibody Macbooks ...

I've heard Apple will be selling the new iPhone on their web site @ 6PM today.

    I doubt it though..............

I would be extremely if not "shockingly" suprised if the new iPhone simply had more memory, not to mention dissapointed.

    Re: iPhone 3

At 6pm, expect the iStore to go offline with their usual post it note as a place holder.

Other hardware enhancements are said to include a compas and an updated camera module that actually allows video recording!! (gee Apple, really pushing the technology boat out there. I don't think anyone noticed you are about 6 yeahs behind the curve)

    Re: iPhone 3

    Funkstar

There are many other rumoured improvements, to name a few...

    HSDPA 7.2Mbps
    True turn by turn GPS
    Wireless N
    Improved Battery
    OLED Screen
    Video Chat
    3D Graphics chip
    Faster CPU

I'm going to remain sceptical though and it could easily be argued that most of these features are already available on other phone's :/

    Re: iPhone 3

OLED screen I had forgotten about.
HSDPA - I forgot Apple only added basic 3G to their phone when everyone else already had 3.5G

3D graphics and improved CPU would be big deal if exploited right.

Uh oh, if Chris is right, then I suspect my dad getting one instead of the N97 or Palm Pre as his upgrade. Wasn't the camera going to 3MP as well or something I heard?

The info I posted was just taken from the internet and may not be accurate at all, we'll really just have to wait and see what new software, hardware features the new iPhone really does have once it is released.

    Re: iPhone 3

I know, no need for the disclaimer! Apple are always VERY good at keeping secrets.

Have to say I love my iPods for music, if I could be a little bit more bothered, I could sort my N96 out with music and have that as a player. If I did get an iPhone it would be a lot easier. But then every time I swayed from Nokia as a phone I regretted it.

    Re: iPhone 3

    Stringent

The iPhone isn't for some people and I can kind of see their point, in regards to some of the technology already being available on OTHER phones, which are already available. However I like the iPhone and will probably get the new model...

It could be that the actual hardware spec is going to be better than predicted, but possibly I am just trying to look on the bright side.
