    Best place for Touch Diamond2

Thinking of upgrading from my kaiser to a TD2, decided I dont need a keyboard as much as I used to.

Re: Best place for Touch Diamond2

Are you getting an upgrade or a new contract? If you are upgrading they can offer you better deals.

Have you thought about just buying the phone and getting an o2 SIM only contract, I was doing some quick maths the other day, and it works out you get a better deal.

if you buy the phone for £350 and get the sim only contract it works out like this.
    18 Months x £19.58 + £350 for the phone = £702 and you get 800 mins + 1200 texts + web bolt on.

The 18 month contract works out like this,
    18 months X £35 = £630 and you get 600 Mins + unlimited texts
if you add the web bolt on at £7.50 a month, you need to add another £135 making a total of £765 and you get less minutes.

I got my contract lowered to £10/month then bought the Diamond Touch 2 from Play.com a couple of weeks ago.

Re: Best place for Touch Diamond2

I was looking into getting the Touch Diamond 2 or a Touch HD a couple of days ago, and it looked like the best I was going to get was around £22-4 per month for a 24 month contract, through comparison sites and the like, and ignoring any cashback deals designed to con you.

I might just cancel my contract actually and go sim only for a while, then when I find an unlocked phone I like the look of I'll buy it. £350 is just too steep, as much as I like the Touch phones, and all of the sim only contracts with Web Access are really pricey.

Are you doing without web access then?

No, but that isn't discounted and would be in adition to any contract or line rental price.

My bad, it was doscounted by £10, so it's actually £15/month. Was originally a Flex 25.

Re: Best place for Touch Diamond2

If you get a 3G signal it's great, but inside my flat I only get GPRS (I can thank the foot thick granite walls for that), so it's a bit like dial up again at home right now.

I have to say I haven't had any particular problems with their reception though.

The diamond 2 has pretty weak reception - as a heads up - it's a known problem and plenty of folks complain about it.

I would expect that to be sorted with a new ROM. Certainally the cooked TyTN II ROMs have has varying reception quality, depending on the network you are on and which device the radio ROM was ripped from.
