    iPhone & MS Exchange

So just how compatible is the the iPhone with Microsoft Exchange? Direct Push? Contacts and Calender sync?
Thinking about getting one for the wife, (she wants an ipod touch really, it seams silly for her to carry an old m3100 and a ipod) we have our own SBS and would need it to sync properly with her Exchange mailbox etc

Mail, contacts and calendar sync over just fine. The push is the MS defintion of push (so a 'permanent' HTTP(S) connection rather than true push) but it works.

Having push on will apparently hammer the battery so I've got it set to pull every hour instead.

One thing to beware of though, if you have /Exchange set to use SSL then it won't work. You'll need to create a new virtual directory in IIS for Activesync and then configure that to not use SSL. All communication between the iPhone and Exchange is still done over SSL but Exchange talks internally to itself using plain old HTTP.
