    Orange or O2 for smartphone?

Trying to decie which servive provider to get a Touch Diamond 2 from, I am not a big caller and tend to send a couple of txts a day, but I do use my kaiser for internet and email.

Anybody out there with experience of using Orange with a smartphone, and the included 500MB internet?

Heres the contract I am looking at.

Orange claims better reception around here than O2, and I can get the TD2 on Dolphin 40 for an average of £24 / month (after cashback). Details are
    • 9 months half price via cash back saving £132.12
    • 1200 minutes and unlimited texts per month.
    • £10 discount directly applied to your bill.
    • 500MB mobile internet browsing included.
    • Average line rental after cash back equal to: £23.86
    • Total contract cost over 24 months: £572.52

Best I have spotted on 02 is around £27.50 / month for less mins/txt but "unlimited" with FUP internet

The big plus point for O2 is that they send a snotty letter if you go over the fup, rather than charging.

I have my Touch HD on Orange, and the signal is absolutely shocking. I can't get a signal in my house at all half the time, and in various other places. However with O2 on my N95 I had an amazing signal all the time. I really can't recommend Orange at all even with the good deal I have (500MB internet, unlimited texts, 600 mins - £35 a month over 2 years, handset free).

Re: Orange or O2 for smartphone?

thats what worries me and the TD2 and have read few negatives about reception on this phone, but I did find that updating the radio on my Kaiser helped so there is hope. Could you pop your postcode in to oranges coverage estimator
    http://web.orange.co.uk/coverage/

and tell me what reception they estimate you will get, voice + 3g would be handy
