Well it must have changed quite a bit from the last time I was subjected to its awfulness then.

    Re: Nokia PC suite rocks

It saved my bacon when my N95 slider died before I had chance to repair it.

It allowed me to reply to SMS via PC easily, it also allowed me to backup the phone contents and updated the firmware to the latest version.

Indeed - I tried to use it in 2007 - none of the applications either install or work once installed. As of early 2009, one of them works in part, but none of the others - all crashes apart from data transfer (file only, not music) (tested on WinXP 32-bit and Vista 64-bit)

It has, it's almost a pleasure to use now, I had my N95 8GB a year ago and the PC suite was pants but now it's pretty decent

    Re: Nokia PC suite rocks

Sair got a new phone, so we used the back up software to replicate all the files, pictures, texts, etc to her new phone.

I got her old phone (Nokia 5500 sport) which I have already but which I've killed over nearly 3 years.. and her's is mint. So I copied my stuff to hers.. it's just a doddle.

It doesn't have to auto run and seems very cleanly installed in my PC. I know it workes in XP but I have Vista64 now and it's fine in that too

I like it. I feel confident that my phone numbers, text messages and settings are safe as houses. Her phone was set up differently to mine..but with Pc Suite her old phone/now my phone is identical to how my old one was. In a matter of minutes

It certainly is one of the better phone managers out there now. Can practically do anything* with it.

    Re: Nokia PC suite rocks

Last time I used the Nokia PC suite it conflicted with my net connection and I couldn't get City of Villains to actually start!! As soon as I removed the nokia suite had no probs, was quite bizzare really. That was shortly after Vista was released however, so that could have had something to do with it!

    Re: Nokia PC suite rocks

I use it with my N85, and I agree with Zak.

I have no trouble at all, getting in to work - turning on my phones Bluetooth, pairing with my laptop and replying to texts without having to take my phone out of my pocket!

I find it works very well in general.

    Re: Nokia PC suite rocks

Agree, it is much better than what it used to be about 2 yrs ago.
I tried with the N95 & the software just wouldnt install & when I finally managed to install it, it constantly crashed...nightmare !
But I recently tried it with the latest N97 and it seemed to work smoothly, no issues at all.

    Re: Nokia PC suite rocks

The new versions are actually very good; not buggy or crashy and consistent across phones, which is handy (there used to be an awful mish-mash of versions between the various handsets).

i just happened to use this software on Saturday night, brilliant as it has three different ways to conect the phone to the pc. Bluetooth was very easy to use.

    I've just installed v7.1.30.9

it works ok first time, but once the phone has been discoonnected requires a reboot before it recognises the phone again.

compared to the palm (Treo) I moved the PDA aspects are poor; As a (new) phone it's considerably better.

    Re: Nokia PC suite rocks

I think all phone management suites suck and have a long way to go. But Nokia is way ahead of the competition with the PC Suite, even though there is much that could be improved.

    Re: Nokia PC suite rocks

It works more than well enough for me. It feels a bit clunky at times, but it does everything I could expect a phone management suite to do. The lack of eye candy and slickness in the age of the iPhone is a slight minus, but not one I place that much stock in. The only major gripe I have is that the music management module (now Nokia Music 1.3) is a bit poor.

The value of PC Suite was further proven to me when I used it to tether my phone to my laptop for some quick jaunts online during a holiday. It was far, far easier than I thought it would be (certainly better than the iPhone I switched to my 5800 from).
