Nothing official, although if you want to mess with it there's one HERE.
To be honest, I really don't reccomend it.

Would you install Windows Ted's Super Duper Awesome Edition on your PC, as downloaded from a random forum, if installing it could kill your warranty?

Unless you deem your phone unfit for use..
    For the obvious reasons,
It's not official, plenty of bugs, numerous ways to screw your handset up and void your warranty.

The official update is supposedly just around the corner, patience is a virtue.

Re: HTC HERO Arrived today :D

I believe that optimization of the firmware only alleviates the problem with lagginess on a smartphone. Any smartphone that supports multitasking will bog down, given enough things to run, and HTC Sense UI has a fair number of widgets and gadgets. Arguably HTC should have made the Hero powerful enough to run everything that's bundled in the box, thing is when you buy a brand name PC it's also got enough extra software to bog down that powerful Core 2 Duo

Besides upgrading hardware, would also suggest reducing the number of tasks/widgets that are running concurrently, which frees up resources and would make things smoother. Just like disabling unnecessary services in Windows, which most of this forum's members probably know how to do quite well

that is purely why i got rid of mine. i have an iphone 3g and can text pretty quick on it and even if it can keep up, if you stop it will still eventually register every letter youve pressed. however with the hero, it would just miss letters or the space bar as it couldnt keep up.

Re: HTC HERO Arrived today :D

Still loving mine, have to say. I cut down the amount of widgets and shortcuts to give myself only 5 used home screen rather than the available 7. I also use Task Killer which easily alleviates any lag that crops up if I multi-task to the extreme.

Found a cool new app today

Its called locale and was pointed out by a work mate.
    http://www.twofortyfouram.com/

You can set up the phone so when you get home and it connects to the wifi that it changes wallpaper, Ring tone etc. When you get to work you can get it to turn off the ring unless its a vip called

I didn't even bother try to download it. (although i have read on various other forums that HTC seem to be using a region blocking. so phones from other regions won't work)

I decided to wait. Though denmark and sweeden have it now.

    Come on HTC!

It seems locked at download level, by serial number. I doubt the firmwares differ once downloaded
